We have 4 2002 Ram 1500 2wd V6 5spd trucks in our fleet at IFS. One of them shit the bed today. The truck wouldn't run right. They replaced the crankshaft position sensor. We took the truck back and it then stumbled and died. We towed it back to the shop and they said that the ECU died. It smelled like the magic smoke was let out. 😞

Is this a fairly common problem for the Dodges? Is this something where we can throw a new/used ECU in and go?

alot of times they get a misfire code (ckp sensor) because one coil is bad. The primary shorts to the secondary and the PCM gets 40,000 volts. I've seen it 2-3 times (4.7L)
      could be it
