    well I'll play devil's advocate...

I forsee you cursing a fold down before too long. Putting a 35" tire on there especially after you weld more steel on there... that's going to be heavy. Cover it in mud/slush/snow and have to lift that back into place every time you want in the hatch...

Covering the license plate... You could've easily mounted that to the bumper instead - or even build a bracket on the mount. Besides, now you're covering your 3rd brake light which is going to probably be just as illegal.

Regarding your rear aftermarket lights. French them into the bumper and it'd look much cleaner. Or, again, mount them to the rack. Your OEM tail lights wouldn't be covered any more by a swinger than they are with the lights you have on the bumper.

Im talken about how a large % of them have 1 or more light bars, stickers, ....... I can see some need for some of them(like one flashing light to put on the top of your vehicle when you respond to something). But Its not like they give you the legal ability to do anything)

wrong. we get legal power to use the light bars and respond ie running emergent to certain situations(accidents, fires, traffic help). We also have police radios(not scanners, full radios). And we get the sweet Cass County Emergency ID badge, haha, but yes, we are able to run emergent when needed. No we cant give out trffice violations but that isnt what we are for anyways. We are to assist in Search and Rescue, Traffic accidents, traffic control, Skywarn, and fires. And trust me, they way people drive around here, and cant notice you blocking an intersection or something, its really nice to have the lights so people can actually see you. Also we are all first responders.

Yes its legal, its just a damn tire carrier. The only problem with legality is it blocks the third brake light. But almost all production carriers do to.

I think he may have been reffering to having a large tire hanging on the back of your vehicle that will block a large amount of your view out your rear window.

which in the state of ND is perfectly legal.

Ever seen riced out Civics with a huge H in the back window? Or riced out 2gs with a giant Mitsu symbol covering the back window?

no offence but you just made the most elaborate tire carrier ever.... simpicity would be were i would look if you entend to design something worth while. also why in the hell is your truck lifted with tiny ass wheels? what does that do? make it more prone to tip over?

first off i had 31s on it, but they were shot so i threw the stockers on for wintertil i can afford my good tires agian come summer, since swampers suck in the winter anyways.

Also how is it elaborate? it folds down and has 2 pins, not even a latch to hold in in place.

And as far as blocking the rear view, the only windows in ND that cant be completely blocked are the front three, i could spray paint the rest of my windows black if i felt like it.

why is it some odd looking shape? in my opinion i wouldn't want to lift my tire carrier everytime i want to get in the back of my truck, let alone the fact that is totally in the way of loading and unloading the truck.

your reason for not making a swing out carrier was poor if not bad planning. and why do you need bad ass reverse lights?

it justs looks like your trying to hard to make a "bad ass" carrier. why not just make one that works well now, then latter if you want to add a little style to it change it....

now this is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt..... but thumbs up for making your own stuff

I can see why you need light, when driving a lifted vehicle, its nice to be able to see more stuff when backing up.

and WTF is the things that go to where the top connects?

this works for what i want it for. What you guys think is that i use my hatch every day... I dont haul anything, and i only go in the hatche when i need to do something. I cant haul anything more. I have a Lincoln Pro Mig 140, Power inverter, and a tool box back there. I am putting expanded steel mesh on the back of the top half to use as a little welding table for repairing parts on the trail or whatever. I do not want a swing out carrier, if i wanted one i would have built one. The backup lights are big so i can actually see shit, XJ's have really crappy lights that do not shine enough to see anything. Now i can actually see shit when backing.
