loud exhaust thread

we should start a thread about this shit. see how many people get popped, and in what amount of time.
ill start. didnt get a ticket, but was on my way to devils lake today and just past the larimore dam turn off sat a hp on the south side on the shoulder. i was doing 75 and looked right at him, and never saw him hit his brakes or anything. 6 miles later, he pulls up to my left, slows down, throws the lights on, and pulls in behind me. when he came up to the pick up, he asked if i knew why he puled me over. why do they always do that? anyways, i gave him a dumb look, and he tells me he pulled me over for having a loud exhaust system. i laughed at him and told him i had never had anyone pull me over for that, ever! he gives me the louder than stock line, and i told him that it was all personal perception, and that there was too much gray area in the law.anyways, after a long time in his car, he comes back with the warning tickey, and a print out of the century code. the ticket siad defective or non existing muffler.or something like that. so, to finish, when we were done talking about this gray area, he asked my why i had that kind of muffler on my truck. did i like the way it sounded he asked me. yes, yes i do. and he walked away. but what i dont get, is how he could tell from the shoulder, when i was in the passing lane, and the wind blowing to beat hell. and then chase me down 6 miles later!
so, theres me contribution. lets keep this thread going. oh yeah, i was in the mazda.

Was the cops last name Skogen? If so, he is a prick (pulled me over for no front plate.....at a car show I was entered in w/ a bunch of other musclecars that had the same violations, but they didn't get the ticket.) Take the warning and move on is my advice.
But like a lot of others have said, I'm willing to bet my car is louder than the majority of the cars on this site, and I've yet to have an exhaust ticket.

It's not profiling if you are breaking the law and they catch you....
-
The law is as follows
39-21-37. Muffler - Prevention of noise and smoke.
- Every motor vehicle must at all times be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke, and no person may use a muffler cutout, bypass, or similar device upon a motor vehicle on a highway.
- The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle must be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.
This is the one I got a warning ticket for on the 16th of this month. Just east of the junkyards on Highway 2 near Grand Forks. I have a complete exhaust with a welded on aftermarket muffler. No violation there. The officer was 265 - Steve L. Johnson I had two cops parked behind me on the highway. Steve got upset when I asked if there was reference to the century code so I could go look it up and bring my car in compliance with the code. He then went off about how he could take me to jail right then. I just let him go off. Funny thing is, he didn't ticket me for not having a seat belt on. It was broken and Mazda finally got the parts in this past weekend and I got it replaced under a lifetime recall warranty.

253 erdmann was his name. and wannabe, take a big suck out of my ass. i have an exhaust on my truck. he was looking for something. dont know what, but it was rediculous to be on one side of the highway, and chase me down to tell me i had a loud exhaust. and he gave me a copy of the cc to look at. that and the description on the warning ticket dont match up.

for running just a downpipe and how stupid loud my car is i was really surprised i never got a ticket for it. ive been pulled over 3 times in that car and never even had them say something about it.

You have shit that is illegal done to your car, don't complain, especially if you got off with a warning. BTW I don't like the taste of dick, so I won't be sucking your ass anytime soon. Grow the fuck up.

True, well said( I could have thought of a better way of saying it without being an asshole).
I run an open header on my motorcycle, very loud, and slightly annoying (only sounds good wide open or idle). If I got a ticket, I would just pay the fine and keep the exhaust. If they have enough time to stop me for loud exhaust, they should stop every hardley davidson on the road. During the Sturgis Rally, getting pulled over for loud exhaust is nearly unheard of, haha wonder why?

me and my friend always get hustled in his built talon during the summer. one cop gave him a exh. ticket for loud exhaust. iv been pulled over a few times with just the engine at idle driving down the street.
but i guess haveing a 3in turbo back to a glasspack then out the side right before the rear wheel doesnt help either.
iv been also pulled over 5 times in my old talon with just a cannon on it and no other exhaust mods besides a test pipe...damn hps
