[QUOTE=capitlj;197951]I also can't deny the fact that sometimes I really can believe there is a god. That said I don't think that I will be judged on weither or not I have accepted JC as my lord and savior. I just try to be a good guy, maybe watch a little less porn this year than I did last year, [QUOTE]

BTW, can you non-believers in a higher being, please tell me how we all came to be here? What came first, the chicken or the egg? What caused the big bang? How did all of the elements involved in the big bang get there in the first place?...You can't tell me that we are here by accident...We are 100,000s of thousands of miles away from the sun...Yet a small tilt in our Earth by just a few 100 miles causes extremes in weather...you are telling me that all of this is a total coincedence?...if so...holy mother of ignorant

Theres no argument here their is a GOD there is Jesus there is a Hold spirit!! try proving the bible wrong the bible is holy words. No book has stood the test of time like the bible has there is also evidence that there was a man named Jesus and that he was crucified by the romans back in the day. I just finished Teen Challenge which is a 13 month faith based treatment and just seeing and hearing god talk to you and others makes believers of all. People that were so lost in there life of drugs came to Teen Challenge and became completely new people. Ignorance is blissCongrats on finishing Teen Challenge. That is a great program that they run there in Mandan and has one of the highest rates of turning drug users into non-drug users (something like a 92% success rate for getting people off Meth and keeping them off....that's amazing in itself)

The only thing im gonna say on this issue is that i don't support organized religion because it is a bunch of bullshit.......

Of the billions of stars/galaxy's/planets in the universe, you tend to think that Earth is the only one capable of supporting life...which one of us is ignorant?
I'll explain my belief system when I have more time, I do believe in God. There was a time when I wasn't so sure, but that changed dramatically on a day in May about 18 months ago. I'm not a fan of organized religion, because I don't believe any one religion has it all correct. I don't believe you will receive salvation through the church, but rather directly with a personal relationship with God. Everyone's relationship will be slightly different, that is human nature. I do believe that the basic ideas presented by the church can help guide you to salvation, but you will have to create your own path using their instructions. I believe an atheist can get to heaven, I believe a Christian can be denied access to heaven. I don't believe in Hell as it is discussed by most major Christian religions. I believe God created the world and the basic building blocks of life. I believe God essentially created the following (as it relates to Science)
Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
FamilyI believe the following evolved over time
Genus
SpeciesI don't believe we evolved from apes, though I do think we are a related species. I do believe that we evolved from prehistoric man to present day homosapien.
I believe that God would want us to use any technology we can to help mankind, this includes embryonic stemcells, though I don't believe he would want us to create stem-cell farms. Rather, if there were left over embyros from people wanting to get pregnant via in vitro impregnation, then we are better off using the cells rather than destroying the embryos entirely (much like organ donors....better to reuse the heart/lung/kidney of a dead person to help another live than to discard the body in its entirety. )
Thats the much abbreviated version of my beliefs. Not everyone will agree with me, but this is a system that works well for me and lets me sleep peacefully at night. And really, that is all that matters.

So, is Mike Edwards still the one running the show there? I've done a bit of work with him in the past, along with their electricians from Rhodes Electric (I kid you not, the owner of Rhodes Electric is a guy by the name of Dusty Rhodes....he looks nothing like the American Dream though..../end off topic discussion). Good guys, but it put me in a weird situation when they asked me to join them in prayer at the end of my sales presentation...

Oh, and any of the religious types on here. feel free to explain the actions of all the priests that like to fuck little boys. Those religious "leaders", the ones you may be listening to every Sunday, are child molesters. It could be your pastor.
Let me guess, as long as they are truly sorry, they'll go to "heaven".
If that's true, I don't wanna go there(a place that accepts child molesters).
A preist isn't God. A prest is a person and their actions have no reflect on my spirituality. Why would they? I don't beleive in confessing my sins to a preist. I don't beleive that the pope is any more God like than I am. Man was not created to be God.
Spirituality isn't about being sinless and being sorry for sinning isn't the magic ticket.

Ethan always starts some interesting threads. I'll just touch on a couple items.
God = yes
Carbon dating: it's a farce. It's filled with assumptions... like the atmosphere has been consistant throughout time, etc. Who the heck knows that? If the atmosphere had changed at anytime along the "billions" of years that evolutionist believe, then carbon dating is worthless. If you believe in creation, then carbon could surely have been created at any point in it's lifetime that the creater chose.
Evolution: There is a small amount of evolution of creatures over time, but there are no NEW creatures created over time. They were all created in the beginning. How do I know? Well, there are some animals that just could not have evolved. There is that beetle, uhh bombardier beetle, it basically has a tube built into its body, and when it's under attack it mixes some ingredients together which literally explode out of the tube. How many different tries do you suppose that beetle had to try to mix the correct ingredients together? How about the design of the tube? I suppose even if it got lucky the first time and mixed the ingredients right, what if the tube wasn't quite strong enough the first time? There are many other examples, where I don't see any possible way evolution covers the design of many/most animals.

Well then let's just throw anyone with a sporty looking car or bike in jail because they're all law breakers.
This is taken directly from philosophy notes. I thought it was kind of interesting to try to explain the whole evolution/creation debate. I personally believe that God kind of "got the ball rolling" and evolution eventually took it's course. How God came to be, though, I'm not sure.
P1. Look around. We see objects in motion.
P2. If something is in motion, then it must be caused to be in motion by something outside of itself.
P3 Either there is an infinite chain of motion or an Unmoved Prime Mover got everything moving and maintains it in motion.
P4. There cannot be an infinite chain of motion.
C1. An Unmoved Prime Mover exists.
C2. God exists.

The Mike Huckabee thing was pretty deep in a hurry and i enjoyed it. It kind of brings me to something my grandpa once told me (guy goes to church most every sunday) He said believing in god you cant really lose If he is real you will go to heaven if not you just wasted a little bit of time in life.

Basically like "If you don't believe in God, you'd better be right."

Well when god created the world it took him seven days....maybe a day for god is a million years or whatever he wants it to be. So maybe he created single organism which evolved by his wishes during the days of creation....and also during those days he created a bunch more shit and finally after seven days his masterpiece was finished. Just think the he could of created the dinosaurs and then said i dont like them and wiped them out during day three for god and started something different. Time is subjective here....anyways sorry for my thoughts, just throwing the argument the other way.Agreed

Also, judiasm, islam and christianity broke off their separate ways in Moses time.Very good point, if you look back the "Old Testament" of all three are the same. Islam broke off when their prophet Mohammed was around.
