If only they would legalize pot then we would be the best. Dont get me wrong i did vote its the best but we do have our problems. But come on guys if our country is so bad then go pay 10 dollars a gallon some were else. With that said we must be doing really good if you have the best gas prices. But what i don't understand is why does everybody think that Bush isnt doing his job. We complain every time we vote in a new President, hes not doing this and hes not doing that bla bla bla really look who was up for president the past couple elections none of the people were any better. I voted for bush and i think that next to a few weird tax things hes doing his job.

HELL NO! our government is corrupt, our president is an idiot and we are to worried about other countries problems to realize our own, please dont ask me which country i think is better because i dont know, ive never been to another country, i just believe that there has to be better ones out there, on another note we are not the worst country by any means either. Then leave if it's sooo fucking bad here...
I do believe that our federal government has become too powerful over the years...but i'd still rather live here than anywhere else (ok well may i'd move to japan if given the change
)...Spending is out of control...Nat'l debt is huge...however, shane...i'm really dissapointed that you think this country is that bad. GTFO if there is a better county...we dont want you far left loones here anyway...P.S. shane i like you as a person and just absolutly hate your political views

Bush is doing his job.. but thats about it. Whether he is doing it well or not is another story. If he was an employee at mcdonalds he'd have his hours cut and a personal improvement plan on his dock. Apparently we don't have the same standards for those in office.
and I hope by "We complain every time we vote in a new President" you mean "We complain every time the electoral college votes in a new President" because I can't think you still believe that the popular vote counts for anything. (bush didn't win the popular vote btw, remember)
America is not the best, nor is it the worst. I don't know where else I would want to live. Currently I'm very dissapointed in our government, and they scare me. We think we are well on our way to becoming an authoritorian or totalitarian society. It may not happen in our lifetime but think about it. Our rights as people are slowly being traded away in the name of 'security' and saftey. Our children are taught non competition and blind obedience in school. If our children have a tantrum on the playground, the police are called and the child is tasered. Gone are freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and soon our right to bear arms. Believe you me, when the only people with weapons are the police, military, and criminals, we are fucked. When we as a people lose the ability to form militia and overthrow our corrupt government, we are completley and totally sheep for the slaughter.

Absolutely, w/o a doubt this is the best country in the world. Are there problems? Sure. Can/will they be resolved....yes.

I'd love to hear from the 6 people who think there is a better country, and what their opinion of the best country is and what makes the other country better.

While it doesn't surprise me too much, it is a bit disturbing. The reason it doesn't surprise me too much is that all you hear in the mainstream news for the last number of years is how terrible the USA is. I think that probably a good gauge might be to see if people are trying to get in, or get out of a country.

(bush didn't win the popular vote btw, remember)Yeah, and its crazy that he won the state that would put him over perfectly, and it happened to be his brothers state. Yeah I'm completely happy with our president and our government. Now granted, I didn't vote last election because I hate Kerry(that guy SCARED me, and I will vote dem almost everytime), and I couldn't be a part of letting Bush back into the White House. No matter what president we elect in the next election is going to have to spend 4 years cleaning up all the shit that was messed up from Bush, like the war on an idea... Atleast the oil prices will go down with a new president.
Whoever really thinks this is the best country in the world, probably needs to wake up. I'll use this as an example. Take a look at the value of our dollar. We used to be the "best", now we are worth the same or less than the canadian dollar! If that's not a sign of the times, I don't know what is. It's the fall of the American Empire. It was a good run, but we had to let a dodo head in the white house(if he was lib, I would be saying the same thing). There's a reason why Bush just signed a bill that locks interests rates, the economy sucks dick! Now, I'm not saying we can't be the best again, but we all need to be united. We need another FDR.
I don't know, maybe I'm alone on this one, but I just see way too much wrong right now to be worried about boasting that we are the best.

The American dollar being lower is actually a help to many people. Farmers, for example, have a much easier time exporting wheat/barley/corn/etc... when the dollar is lower. The downside, of course, is that gas and other commodities we import are going to cost more. The dollar decreasing in value isn't unheard of, I believe in 1981 the Canadian dollar was worth more than our dollar as well, and we had just come out of the Carter administration. The economy, fuel prices, everything is cyclical. It's all a part of balancing everyones place in the world economy.
Bush only locked interest rates on homeowners who haven't yet filed for bankruptcy or haven't been foreclosed on yet. This lock of rates only affects those w/ variable rate mortgages whose rates rose as interest rates were rising in an attempt to offset inflation. Some inflation, of course, is good, but sometimes rates need to be raised in an effort to keep it from ballooning out of control....and really, it is the consumers own fault for buying into variable rate mortgages. Why anyone would get into a longterm variable rate loan is beyond me.

This post is why Daveh is disturbed...as well as me. Like Dave said...."more people trying to come to America than people leaving".
