Check this bullshit out
-
So I sold my DVD unit to this guy on ebay over a year ago, and today I recieve this email from the buyer... which is complete bullshit, the unit came straight out of my car, perfect condition, now he's claiming its all scratched up and the DVD nav disk is broken...
I have a really hard time buying this guys story, you'd think if you had a year and two months to come up with a problem you'd let me know (I know chuck saw it right before it came out of the car too)...
What do you guys think?
Hi,
I bought a Pioneer Avic N3 unit from you on Dec 27, 2006 and never opened the unit because I assumed everything was ok. I was building a custom car and just had it installed yesterday. The crap unit that you sold me is all scratched up, has electrical problems and has a navigation disc that can't be used because it doesn't read any info because it is scratched.
I don't see how you feel you can sell crap products like that on ebay. I need to talk to you in person. What is your phone number? Are you going to be taking the unit back and paying for my install or highly discounting the unit that you sold me? Let me know.

Tell him to fuck off. It is his fault for not inspecting the unit on arrival, which was probably fine. What are ebay and pay pal's policy on this amount of time?I'm not sure but I'd have a hard time believing they'd do anything after somebody has a product for over a year, I bet he broke it / fucked it up and now wants me to fix it or some shit for him...

tell me you wrote in your auction that it was sold as-is?

then you are fine, you should give us his email so we can send him mean emails. like i would any other scammer

Tell that guy to get fucked, what a joke. Over a year later. Scam.

he's SOL I had a similar problem years ago. The only thing he can do is actually start a legal process, which will cost him more than the cost of the player im sure.Yeah, i still can't even fathom contacting a seller of a product over a year later and being like hey... I want my money back? and claiming that the unit was fucked up

sounds like a scam to me.... tell him that its been over a year and if any damages occured during shipping, he should take it up with the shipping company.... but in that case, they will tell him he is SOL because its been over a year... its pretty hard to believe that someone would not open a pakage of something they bought to see if it was ok.... so i still say scam

the only way i wouldnt check something like that, is if i had enought money to not care, and if i didnt care, i wouldnt be emailing you about it, so yea, from all angles, its a scam
-
Theres nothing he can do through ebay or paypal after the initial time he has to file a complaint is up i buy and sell on ebay all the time and am 100% sure of that. Yes he could take legal action against but as stated above would cost him way more than the dvd/nav unit you sold him.

I'm curious as to what his feedback scores look like.... Maybe this isn't the first time he's done this. Maybe eBay has had this problem with him before.
If you have a good reputation on eBay (ie. feeback scores are good), I sure wouldn't worry about it. And even if not, like everyone has been saying, he's waited way too long to do anything about it. But I'd definitely let someone at eBay know about what's going on so they can stop this jagoff from doing it to someone else.
Something tells me he's not a stand-up kinda guy and eBay might already know this...FWIW. Good luck though.

What a joke......get as much info from him as you can and then we can all bother him (phone number and maybe address and that). There is no way he wouldn't look at a used item to see if it was ok, and he is building a custom car over the course of a year, but paid someone to install a headunit??

Give him my phone number if he has an issue with it. I can vouch for the condition of the unit just days before you sold it.
