New parts? I just parted out my other one, so i had every nut, bolt, and washer i needed to fix it for free.
All i did was fill any mount i could get to with poly, also kept the 3-bolt rearend for now, but i need to get a 4-bolt sometime
I plan on using it as my DD, and making it pretty for awhile. Plans include:
doing a timing belt and water pump soon
theres a broken stud on the manifold i need to fix
making a full 3" exhaust since it doesnt have one
i imagine it will need a clutch eventually
tint
major cleaning
I bought those 17" wheels z31 was selling for it, they look killer on there
fix a couple small oil leaks
Thats pretty much it for now, i dont plan on doing any performance mods on it at the moment, just the free mods. Need to get the buick back on the road first off. I wont be driving it for another month or so anyway, need to get the title for it which could take a little time, or maybe apply for a lost if the guy cant find it, thats just how it is.

I do think it is funny when people get DSM's as DDs. Their other car must be always broken.....
-
didnt break, think it slipped from a weak tensioner. Anyway all the intake valves are bent.
BUT, i guess it isnt a terrible thing to happen, ive just hot a ton of porting to do now, lol. Anyway, its gonna be apart for awhile so im gonna port the head, intake, maybe get a 2g manifold, port the turbo and make a 3" elbow, downpipe, remove all the emmissions shit and clean up the engine bay. -

meh, you guys and your dsm hatred. 90% of all dsm problems can be traced to just plain poor maitinence, its simple as that. Even in my case, i knew i had to replace it, but i thought i could at least get it washed first, guess not.
anyway, heres some picsExactly, its just a case of an old timing belt that needed to be replaced. Simple as that. Looks good though. :icon_thumleft:

So, i got the head and everything off today. The belt and tensioner were in really good shape, but turns out that stupid balance shaft belt broke and got into the timing belt, slipping it about 6 teeth.
So, it needs all 8 intake valves and guides, they are all cracked. None of the exhaust valves were damaged so at least that is good
Also today i got all the emmissions stuff out of the car, ended up removing alot of stuff, some of you know what im talking about. Removed charcoal canister, all the vacuum lines, and EGR, associated solenoids and relays.
The rest of the week, and this weekend, i am going to do a complete cleanup of the engine bay, and paint the block and trans. Once the head is done, it along with the intake and all covers will be painted. Figured i might as well do the whole thing since i will be waiting for parts for a week or 2, and with spring break i wont have anything else to do anyway.

Just a little progress over the last week. The head will be done tomorrow or tuesday, thats all im waiting on. The last week i blasted the engine and bay, and jason painted the engine and trans. Then i finished removing everything that i didnt want in there, polished up everything i could reach under the hood. I even took all the fuse boxes and stuff loose and cleaned under them. New water pump, timing belt bearings, tensioner all installed. Just have to put the head back on to finish.
After that i started painting up all the little brackets and cleaning the engine parts. Intake is assembled, and yesterday Jason sprayed some black ceramic on the manifold and turbo, got that put together this morning. Anyway heres some pics!
