Define "went through". The check won't be "declined" for weeks as your bank will make the money available to you right away.
I bet he'll try to send you a $5000 check and have you wire the $3800 back to him.
No matter what, I can't understand how you'd even entertain the idea that this is not a scam.

Its a fraud. Well if you cash the check and it goes through then all of a sudden a few days later it bounces or his bank takes it back or he cancels payment on it then bam that money is gone. When I posted my car on Facebook the same thing happened to me, except he wasnt from england but he said he was sending me a money order. I lol at him and he said he was but guess what, It never showed up.

Let me get this straight. I am in utter amazement at how many ppl actually fall for this, i had a friend in high school who lost like 2 grand on his 4-wheeler even tho i told him it was a scam.
