dirt bikes - where to ride?
-
Outside of Buffalo River MX, where are other locations where people can ride mx bikes (tracks, trails, etc)?
I like riding at Buffalo River MX when I can, but being able to make Tues/Thurs practice nights is getting more difficult, and the weekends are filled with races, so I'm just looking for more dirt bike riding areas. Thanks,
Gary -
We used to ride in sheldon ND go south of Sheldon 6 miles then east until the road ends, open the gate follow the trail, park in the hills and there is alot of natural stuff there, it should be grass less on the track. We used to camp there for the weekend and not get harassed.

kindred sand hills even though it is more west of kindred. there are several ways to get into it but keep going west through kindred till you get to the church bout 10 miles? go south, about 7-10 miles turn west on highway 1? keep going till there is a sign that says desiginated trails or whatever.

Staples is an awsome track, but as far as practice goes, indoor in the winter blows... its very small, and you need to call before hand, like a day or 2 and register. Sometimes they cancel on youthe day before... My fav indoor place is the sandbox in Wisconsin. Its a bad ass track. they do summer and winter indoors. Its a far drive, but is very worth it...
As for summer spots there is jamestown, brrp, i know of a few trials that are private that we built, dl has a track that is harder to find. If anyone wants more info on any of these or a year round riding partner give me a call, 7013610955
Also if you need work done on your bike, i will do it far cheaper than any dealer. I will even pick it up and return it if thats an issue.
My bike is currently in the house til i get the stator replaced. I am trying to get it done ASAP!! I am geared up for indoor... If anyone is interested i am trying to get a group/team going for Enduros/Harescrambles thats just out there to have fun. I am converting a full size bus into a camper/toy hauler we will be using.
Also, the west central dirt riders are based out of the Umotors in Fergus Falls. I will post up a link to the site as soon as i find it again. Great group of guys. They are all in it for the sport and the fun.

well, bad news on the riding area. we didnt get the permit...
Randy Norgren (neighbor of the pit, and occasional guest at Ottertail County Jail) managed to create enough havoc at the township board meetings to stop approval of the noise variance permit for the use of the gravel pit. After that, we haven’t pursued other riding areas, so we haven’t had meetings.

ya, its gettin harder and harder to get places to ride because of ignorant people that know nothing about the sport. It doesnt help that a lot of the freestyle kids wreck the image of what the AMA is all about... Not all dirtbikers are wild and care free. most of us actually take care of our riding spots so we can keep them around...
-
just hope on your bike and go ride somewhere lol you dont always need a track to go and ride... just riding around go out in the country or some shit lol... ya like they where saying the Sandbox is a pretty sweet track thow... but ya i live in like the middle of now where so i can just get up and go on my bikes... and it helps me and my buddy are building a track out on his farm so... that should give us something to do in the summer besides the random shit we find to ride on
-
sounds pretty sweet. ya i dont really make it to any tracks... i dont race i was going to but i would freak if some one hit my bike or some shit lol. ya just kinda ride where ever i end up. and its kinda nice me and my buddy are building a track at his place so that will be nice. Its a lot of Fing work thow
it should be worth it thow -
you kinda gotta not care bout the bike lol. my last bike before i quit riding was a 05 yz250f and i threw her over a berm the first race and i didnt care haha FYI unless you are pro homemade tracks suck balls. i have rode so many they are horrible unless you have 200 plus thousand dollars of equipment and some nice landscape. unless ur not into jumps and high berms and stuff

And we threw together another pretty sweet one in 2 weekends that included a buried van and a 6 ft tractor tire to drive over. But I consider myself pretty handy with a skidsteer....

ha, ya, homemade tracks can suck, but they can rock too. the single track stuff we have set up north of fargo on a budies land is pretty bad ass, old cars the you have to ride over, trails right on the edge of the river, tight trails, trees, some wide open stuff, a 40 foot stretch of just logs, its intense. thats where i go for practice. good mix of everything.
And ya, in this sport you have to not care about breaking parts on the bike... i have an 08 KX450F that totals around 10 grand, between that my KLX110, and gear, tools, spare parts, i got about 15k into my shit, and when i break stuff, i go get a new part or pull one out of the trailer. Spare parts laying around are good
Plus you gotta remember, they are DIRTBIKES, haha they are built to be thrown around and thrashed on. they arent made to be pretty. haha
