you kinda gotta not care bout the bike lol. my last bike before i quit riding was a 05 yz250f and i threw her over a berm the first race and i didnt care haha FYI unless you are pro homemade tracks suck balls. i have rode so many they are horrible unless you have 200 plus thousand dollars of equipment and some nice landscape. unless ur not into jumps and high berms and stuff

I used to have a kick ass track that was homebuilt with huge hils, a single tabletop with a tunnel underneath, and some decent berms.

And we threw together another pretty sweet one in 2 weekends that included a buried van and a 6 ft tractor tire to drive over. But I consider myself pretty handy with a skidsteer....

ha, ya, homemade tracks can suck, but they can rock too. the single track stuff we have set up north of fargo on a budies land is pretty bad ass, old cars the you have to ride over, trails right on the edge of the river, tight trails, trees, some wide open stuff, a 40 foot stretch of just logs, its intense. thats where i go for practice. good mix of everything.

And ya, in this sport you have to not care about breaking parts on the bike... i have an 08 KX450F that totals around 10 grand, between that my KLX110, and gear, tools, spare parts, i got about 15k into my shit, and when i break stuff, i go get a new part or pull one out of the trailer. Spare parts laying around are good 😉 Plus you gotta remember, they are DIRTBIKES, haha they are built to be thrown around and thrashed on. they arent made to be pretty. haha

glad to see some activity on this thread. I'm going to have to get some directions from you guys when spring gets here.

Bummer to read about the denial in the Fergus area.

It would be nice to have alternative places to ride and get some seat time, particularly on weekends, since brrp rarely has open weekends for practice. I've had a membership there for a few years, except for last year, when I didn't get out on my kx250 at all (damn torn hamstring).

ya, i dont buy the membership there, as i rarely make it out there on weekdays, and weekends are full of races. i wish we had more single track/free ride areas....

not like im dumb or something. i started riding at 7 and quit when i was 16 and got into cars. i have raced at almost every motorcross track in the tri-state region from here at BRRP to millville where they race the outdoor national. my last 2 new bikes i had were a 03 yz250f and then an 05, but y have a 450 to "trail" ride?

i grew up on 250 2ts so i wanted the same power and class. Plus i like the power and speed. Great for open free riding too. I almost wish i had another 2t also for woods due to the little bit lighter weight, but i love the torque of the 450 4t. Im just a big bike fan. lites are ok but just dont have enough power under me. JW but have you ever had a big bike wide open under you? its insane! Bader now owns my supermoto and ask him how he likes the 426 power.

I do admit, i never use the full power on a track with my 450, but in the woods i go all out on it. When im at our practice area i catually find myself looking for more in a couple of the more open spots. I dont ride tracks much anyways.
