i'm wiring up a cd player to a 12v bat. i beleive there is only 2 power wires. (ign and B+/mem) what needs to be fused? And I just give it power and ground, hook up speakers right? Is it that simple. and also what size fuse? Its just a old kenwood i think. Thanks

yellow & red need power, black needs ground. Some decks come w/ inline fuses already, others don't. The only real way to answer what size fuse is needed is to identify the model number and then look up an owners manual. If it's just on a battery on a bench, you probably won't "need" fuses...but never a bad idea to use them...

There should be a fuse in the back of the cd player itself. If not, then at least the red (12v acc) needs to be fused for safety. I'd run them both fused if that was the case. usually 10-15 amps is the norm. The memory hardly draws anything so just what the red wire draws which is usually less than 10 amps unless your working the fooey out of it.
