Oh my. Honestly if you wanted to swap a S4 motor in, you'd be more feasable to buy an S4. We did a clutch on a S4 when we were in our old shop and all i can say is WOW! Those cars are definatly a PITA to work on. To get @ the turbos the motor needs to come off all of its mounts and be slid forward to even access them.

I've never paid close enough attention to an A4 to comment. I assume them you dont have the 1.8T.

What are you looking for? Ive done alot with those 1.8ts and they have a huge following so you just need to figure out your desired goals and budget...

If I were you I would start here:

ECU "chip" - This will increase boost, and will manage your fueling accordingly.
There is many brands to choose from. Stick to these: Revo/APR/GIAC

Revo - (sciperformance.com)
(goapr.com)
GIAC - (awe-tuning.com)

Turbo-back exhaust - once again, many brands/combos to choose from. If you're sticking to a stock turbo go w/ either 2.5" or 2.75" piping.

If you can't find the part your lookin for at those sites, here are my favorite tuners across the US. They'll hook you up with any part at very competitive pricing. I've had experience with all of the following.

1. Avalon motorsports
2. Achtuning
3. ECS tuning
4. Matrix engineering

Don't even consider doing an engine swap... you'll be in WAY over your head. This is a great place to start modding your A4 and it'll feel much quicker. You can expect your hp/tq #'s to be (+50hp and +80tq).

Look to spend around $500 for the chip and around $800 for a decent exhaust system. If you're looking for used parts try the audiworld.com classifieds or the mnaudi.com classifieds.

first of all i have never said anything about beating an evo, and secondly your eclipse is a peice of shit, the last owner disconected the odometer....hmmm maybe thats why your motor blew to shit. I saw that eclipse lose to a mustang that runs 17's

I highly doubt a gsx would run anything close to a 17 second run. Stock they are like 15 second cars at the least. If I were you I would get my stories straight before posting.

Id take the A4 with an RS4 bodykit lowered on some nice 18" rims over that DSM any day. At least it wont be sitting on the side of the road

haha oh wow i just read this....i HIGHly doubt that disconnecting the odometer would make the engine go to shit...maybe i'm wrong...but the odometer isnt discnonnected and fucked up in the tranny.....my eclipse in reverse would beat ur car still!.......and im pretty sure steve's mustang didnt run 17's since he had it tuned and set up for the 1/4 miles and ran low 14's....plus it was all stock then with jeremy stensland driving.......the driver makes a HUGE difference if you didnt know...
