I have 2 problems with my 300z. One is, when it sits there and idles, it idles at 1(rpm) but after 2minutes, it drops down to damn near 0. Now my question is, is it a terrible misfire? Never had this happen to me on a vehice.

    1. anyone in here do exhaust work for a decent price?

1: Try to reset your idle speed using FSM method. If not you need a new IACV. Is it 2 min or after your temp starts to turn up?

If is pretty much consistantyl 2 min no matter conditions, then its something related to open vs. closed loop and you should probably be throwing a code.

2: Do it your self or spend $$$$

1.It's right after the temp goes up. As soon as I tap the gas, it stays at 1grand then goes back down after 2minutes. Has no hesitation, runs good, just having the problem with the idle.

Sounds like you need to adjust your base idle.
Is the air condition on or off?
          Heater fan on or off?
          Headlights on off?

If any of these are on the computer bumps the base idle up a few hundred rpm.

Cars idle high on start up to warm up quicker (on hondas its called a fast idle thermo valve or FITV, the IACV also plays a roll as well)...also, the base idle should be able to be adjusted via a screw on the throttle body, at least that's from my experience.

It does it repeatedly, even after it's warmed up, normal idle for a car should be about 1grand, not like 0. Right when I get off the gas, it sits at 1grand then goes down close to zero. Warmed up or not. I dont wanna fuck around with the idle by myself cuz I dont know what I'm doing so I'm mostly likely gonna pay outta my azz to have someone look at it.

This screw, with all accessories off. Should be 800 RPM. :icon_geek:

What would 3inch exhaust from the heads back sound like? bad?? I'm thinkin about having my exhaust done with 2in, 2.5in or 3in from the heads back. Any suggestions? Im also replacing the exhaust I have now, with this.
