Just ordered more AR15 parts today. Fuck obama.

His views on the 2nd amendment and the fact that he is about as socialistic as they come make him SCARY. He will destroy the US if he is elected.

So wait...we are voting for a dictator as most of the more conservative posters here seem to think based on comments that he will ban all guns. Obama is probably more likely to get legislation through as a senator in that regards than he is as a president, because as a President, he doesn't get to introduce legislation directly and anything that gets to his desk will have already crossed the desks of the Senators and House members and gotten their approval on (or at least the majority of their approval)...except McCain who will probably miss that vote in the Senate as well...I mean, he has missed more votes than he has participated in in the last couple sessions. I'm a gun owner who has no problem with voting for someone who is seeking some forms of gun control....background checks, holding dealers responsible IF they sell to someone who doesn't pass a background check, etc...

When Obama was restricting his damage to Illinois, he was 100% in favor of a town ordinance that made handgun ownerhsip illegal. When a guy "broke" the law by having a gun in his house, the 2nd nite in a row his house had an attempted robbery, and SHOT the guy robbing his house, Obama was onboard with the rest of the elected officials in that district trying to go after the guy for defending himself. THe jury of course acquitted the homeowner, but Obama and the rest of the town fuckers were looking for other ways to get him. He's as anti-gun as they come. I apologize for not having a link handy, for this story, but here are some others:

          http://neveryetmelted.com/?p=3741
          http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm
          http://www.issue2008.com/obama-on-gun-control/

Here's the Obama quote you need to see:

I think it is a scandal that this president did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons ban.

You know damn well that while the president doesn't "write" bills, the president has a lot of say in what ends up making it on or off the house floor. When the Democratic congress pushes a new assault weapons ban in 2009, Obama will sign it. Take it to the bank.

Now, you know that as ardent of a supporter of Ron Paul as I am, I'm not looking forward to choosing between Obama and McCain. But as leftist as Obama is, if I'm stuck between those two choices, I'll choose McCain. If i wanted the socialist dystopia that is Obama's dream I could move to any one of the European nations (well, I couldn't since their immigration laws are bullshit apart from me being in a line of work that's in high demand).

Well, I don't.. I want the person that will do the least amount of damage to the constitution and the ideas of limited governance. Ron Paul is the best shot for that. Obama is unequivocally the WORST for that.

Nick -- whats the best/cheapest/fastest way to get an AR15? I recently found cncguns.com and that looks excellent, but I suspect there are faster avenues for someone that's not interested in milling ?

Also interested in Nick's opinion on a quick, cheap AR purchase. Also looking for an AK knock-off as a SHTF/EOTW weapon.

                McCain will stay.

Obama's tax plan is gonna benefit the lower and middle class. It's not going to be good for the rich, but right now that's not affecting me or most of us.

McCain will keep the tax cuts for the rich

Obama will mandate coverage for children and subsidize health care for adults.

                McCain won't change a thing.

Obama has a plan to give college students thousands in tuition in exchange for public service, like working at homeless shelters.

McCain won't change a thing again. At least in our country.

I don't see how Republicans can even be happy about having McCain as their nominee. It's completely advantage Obama

You really think Obama will be a catalyst for all this change he speaks of? He's so ambiguous when he speaks, it's hard to tell what, if anything, he's going to do sometimes. Looking at his voting record is a good way to judge his future actions, and thus far they've been scary left. I'm more of a moderate than anything, so take it for what it's worth.

They aren't really bullshit, but some are extreme. I believe to become a resident of Switzerland, there is a twelve-year naturalization process one must go through. So basically, if you aren't born there, you don't become a citizen (or you wait a long time).

Well, for instance, Iceland requires that you learn the Icelandic language and change your name to be Icelandic in origin if you want actual citizenship. And Iceland does things like deny or delay visas to non-native born spouses. Lovely place to visit; we have some relatives there we stayed with. Goofy laws and economy though.

I'm in the software development industry. I've done a mix of IT and software since highschool.

I've heard that it's easier for people in the IT/tech sector to get foreign work visas, just like we've got the H1-B program here in the states. When I was vacationing in Munich a few years ago I ran into an American kid (like, early 20s) who spoke no German and was working for Siemens. He was saying that it was pretty easy to get a ride to Germany if you knew your stuff. I also had the opportunity to transfer to our Denmark office last fall but it came literally the week after we bought our fixer upper house in Fargo. A guy on my team who's originally from Norway is transferring and is getting all of his paperwork sorted out currently.

Edit: Yeah, isn't Iceland's economy mainly based on fishing? I always thought Iceland was pretty cool and would love to visit, but I don't think I'd ever want to live there.

What is wrong with getting loans for a college education? Work part time to help with the bills? There is 2 sides to this argument. I worked in college, I took out loans, and my parents "made too much money" to get federal aid...however they didn't offer any financial assistance for my college... So what does them making money have to do with ME getting an education? Bad parents, or are they teaching the value of the dollar and an education?

He also voted against more border patrol. Thats great let more illegals in to the country. He is too far out there. [/QUOTE]

Many people get a vision of Ron Paul from the media, and well, if you listen to the media....you are falling victim to one of the biggest piles of shit facing Americans. I kinda forgot about the write-in option as well. I'll probably go that route actually now that I think of it....heck, I did give the guy some money, I suppose the least I could do is vote for him...my 2nd choice is still Obama. As a gun owner, yes, I have concerns as well, but as stated earlier, I think he is in a better position to ban "assault rifles" as a senator rather than a president....and he hasn't even attempted that as far as I can tell. Also, the vast majority of my weapons (AK47/MAK90/SKS) were purchased DURING the assault weapon ban. I really don't see how it affected me or anyone else I know that purchased those guns during that time. My father in law purchased his AR15 during that time as well I am told (didn't know him back then). If he proposed making it illegal to own those guns, well then I have issues with him, but even other republican friends of mine acknowledge that there is virtually no chance of that happening in our lifetimes.

                                      AR15:

Fastest way - Walk into Scheels/Outdoorsman/Sportsmans Warehouse/Gander Mountain

Buy any model DPMS or Bushmaster rifle. They are approximately $750+.

I bought a complete lower receiver from the outdoorsman and built mine by ordering parts online. The lower receiver is the only piece of the firearm that requires paperwork unless you build an SBR or buy a can, in which you will need other paperwork to make the rifle legal.

I will be picking up a couple more stripped lower recievers before November. These are all I will need to get past another AW ban if it does happen. Preban purchases FTW.

Give me 5 good reasons to vote McCain....and PLEASE don't try and tell me it's because he's a conservative (far from it)

I'm too lazy so I'll only give you 4 reasons. Look at Tads list in the 3rd post in this thread. McCain won't do those 4 things that Obama will do. No change is much better than bad change.

                                          I hate McCain...but here's 5 things going for him:

                                          1. he's for a flat-tax
                                          2. he's not against the 2nd ammendment
                                          3. he won't place in socialism (nationalized healthcare)
                                          4. he won't tax people for being productive (taxing the rich)...the bottom 40% of this nation actually makes money off of our tax system already. We already have wealth redistribution.
                                          5. he will extend the bush tax cuts...if those aren't extended, we will have the largest tax increase since WWII...all this at a time when ppl are struggling to buy food and pay for gas in their tanks.
