Readers Digest: Didn't realize that the lexus' engine wasn't supposed to be rinsed with water when I cleaned it and now I have a bad misfire. I've taken the top end of the engine apart (minus pulling the plugs) and dried/cleaned everything off and it's still misfiring. I'm going to go pull it apart again and check the plugs but other than that does anyone have any idea what else I could have fried that would cause this??

I'm sure nothing is fried. It took my Supra a trip to DL and back to basically start running perfect after drying out overnight lol. I didn't remove the valve cover/Intake manifold, but made a vacuum attachment to grab most of the water out of it lol. If you haven't found out yet, there is a huge valley there for water to sit, especially in the plug holes. If it runs enough the water should evaporate, otherwise leave it taken apart overnight and it should be a bit better in the morning lol. Good times huh?

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

When I had that car detailed the same thing happened, but they just dried everything out by using compressed air, then all was good.

take off your cap and hit with light blasts of compressed air. dry off any electronics under the hood.

I am replacing the plugs too...the ones that were in there were single ground and the owners manual calls for ONLY double grounded. Plus they looked kinda dirty so I figured some maintenance would be good for it!

Yeah it was the plugs from what I can tell...no issues after I replaced those. Toyota sure screwed up on that engine design I think...that's way too much "work" just to change plugs!

you need one of my intake manifolds. 🙂 then it takes 1.382 minutes to change all plugs.

Is this intake manifold you're talking about one that includes/goes with one of those snail type contraptions?

Yes, your car would be much happier with one of those snail thingies also.

                            🙂
