How dare a white man’s university take our deity and make it a sports team mascot?
NDSU should change its mascot name out of respect to an animal the Great Spirit gave to my people.
He is not a sports mascot, he is not a marketing gimmick to make wealthy people richer. The buffalo is above today’s corrupt commercial world.
He is not an asset to be exploited; he is an icon to be cherished and respected.

I am also pretty sure that there are a good number of "native americans" that go to that school and chose to go there knowing what the sports team name was. Are teams supposed to not use the name "devils" because it offends the christians. Or take away any name that has a fish or animal used for food as a mascot because people live of those things. No! I agree with tony for the most part. I know it was fucked up we took over ther land but in doing so we gave them a choice. They can live I society with everyone else make an honest living and be just as much a part of the country as us. Or they can live in a reservation have there own rules/laws and get a government check. Which a lot chose the reservation route. I see very little ways of a decent income besides casinos and hotels. Not trying to be stereotypical but its what I see. And those are usually the ones who make everything regarding there culture a big deal. I am not racist and do not think they should be wiped out but I think they should have the same ability as everyone else not looked up or down at.

That's the way things have been forever, and that's how it most likely always will be...

I honestly don't see what there problem is, we let them have casinos which the "White Man" dumps millions of dollars into a year and they have the balls to bitch about something as trivial as a damn mascot.
