I think pretty much all accidents would be avoided if someone wasnt "fucking around".

Simmer down now son. No need to start callin' names because you can't defend yourself against my statement. It's true and you know it as well as everyone else on this damn board knows it.

If the issue is that she was 15, well she had a driver's license. Maybe they need to up the age to get a license.

Because 18 y/o inexperienced drivers are magically better drivers than 15 y/o inexperienced drivers???

Not buying it. I've been legally driving for 19 years...and I've gotten much better at it with more practice.

Mentally, I don't see much difference between the 15 and 18 y/o people around here....especially when it comes to driving habits...the 22 y/o was driving like an idiot too...so what age should we raise the legal driving age to? 32?

What you're failing to understand is that an 18-year-old driver will have three more years of experience in the seat versus a 15-year-old driver.

I've been driving loaded grain trucks on public roads since I was 10 or 11....tractors, pickups and other farm machinery for longer than that....as have most of my friends that grew up on farms.

The age limit at 14 is just fine for me.

Your an asshat behind the wheel too. So we can we start flaming your bitch ass for driving like an asshat or do we have to wait till you kill someone or kill yourself?

The age limit of 14 might have been fine for you but theres a few different factors now days. Do you really trust a 14 or 15 year old girl in a big car full of friends and most likely texting to be fully compitent of whats going on around her? saying theres no mental differences between a 14 and 18 year old is ridiculous.

True....I'd say 99.999999999999999999% of all accidents could be avoided by paying better attention. From my perspective, she pulled out 1/2 block in front of a motorcyclist that at the time was not speeding (at least not as much). As she pulled out, I'm sure she did what I do....look to the lane you are going to merge with and make sure you don't hit anyone there....coincidentally, at the same time he decided to accelerate and do a wheelie....bad choice on his part. I still contend she was not in the wrong.

If she was texting (YOUR assumption, not mine) then she is partially at fault. If you are texting while driving, that is stupid. Period. Big car...shit, what difference does that make? If he had hit a Smart he would be dead still...that doesn't mean shit. But yes, when my son is of age (still 12 years away) I fully expect that I will trust him with my vehicles...whether that be my Camry, Murano or WRX...or whatever I'm driving then.

I'm saying that there is not much mental difference as far as the "I'm invincible" factor between those ages. If there were, the accident would not have happened because the motorcyclist would have been driving at a speed that would have allowed him to avoid such a collision in the first place.

This doesn't make much sense to me. I ride, and when I see a vehicle pulling out from a side street, I do not speed up. I can't imagine he sped up and/or did a wheelie as she was entering the road in front of him. I use to have to take that exact same road she was on everyday, and I made it a point to sit and wait until I knew there was absolutely no traffic coming in my direction before I turned. This accident has a lot to do with driver/rider experience, and paying attention (or lack thereof).

The girl sure did get physically injured due to this accident didn't she? The argument that motorcyclists doing stupid shit risks the lives of others is pretty much totally bullshit, since 999 times out of 1000 the biker alone is the one that's injured/killed, especially when tangoing with a SUV + teenage driver.
I dont know if shes physically hurt, Im just goin by the assumption if I'm broad sided by maybe a bike running a red at 20 over the speed limit into my door, it's not going to turn out well for me either, especially the way my car is made.

In the end, this all comes out to the risk of riding a motorcycle. Every biker knows(or atleast should know or they shouldn't be riding) the risk of being on a motorcycle. Whether its a Harley, BMW, crotch rocket, moped whatever. Hell even my buddy whos on here crashed a scooter cause somebody cut him off on a one way and he ended up paying severely because of it. No where close to his fault at all

And if I'm wrong on all of this, and the 15 yo girl...who I think is a road hazard don't get me wrong...DID pull out when she wasn't supposed to, then I think it's just a bad case of timing all along and she should have to take the blame. If he was dangerously speeding, then thats a whole nother topic.

Its the risk people take, that is all...and according to the witness reports, this guy had it all coming to him. No he doesnt deserve his life taken away for doin something stupid, but I won't grieve over it cause of what he did, and I didn't know him at all.

I drive the road every single day. I am well aware of the intersection. He accelerated early and was traveling (by my estimate) 80mph on impact. Bikes can get to those speeds quickly, right? Is it not possible that he was distracted with doing something other than paying attention to the road in front of him (balancing maybe...staring at the speedo perhaps?) and just plain ol' fucked up.

i second that, i dont feel sorry for someone going 2 times (if not a bit more) the speed limit doing 'wheelies.'

For the sake of argument.... Who let's a 22 year old drive a high performance motorcycle? That's insane! That much power could get himself killed! We need to raise the legal age to drive motorcycle so we don't see guys w/ too much testosterone trying to impress everybody as they ride a wheelie during rush hour! Maybe we should give them all estrogen pills to keep that in check.

See, it sounds dumb the other way too....

I wanna know where you are all getting your information. Where did you see or hear that he was going 2x's the speed limit and that he ran a red light???? Before you start criticizing, you might want to have the FACTS.

Ummm...I was in the Sunmart parking lot and saw him pull into a wheelie right around gate city bank...lost visual of him around KFC...heard the smack....I'd guess 80mph.
