my winter project

Well, 5 hours and $40 later I was able to do the 99 spec conversion. it was actually easier than I thought. Just extremely tedious! out of the 5 hours, 2 hours were spent getting the circles in the right spot. the painting was a bitch too. I think there is a total of 12 coats. enough explaining, Ill let the pics speak for themselves

Just bought these yesterday at TM and ordered this style hood.

here is an update. I got the front bumper fitted and the car is now ready for paint. I did another compression test today and the results are not good. I am not getting the 3 consecutive pulses like i should. I am thinking that is an apex seal or a spring. So Monday I am tearing the engine out and going do tear it apart once again. If anyone is not doing anything on monday, I will have lots of beer, pop, and pizza for those who want to help me tear this thing apart. i got myself a huge shop to work in just east of Dilworth.

Pulled the engine out and tore it down. I was missing the side piece to the apex seal (2nd half of a 2 piece apex seal). The little thing must have popped out when I put it together the first time.

^nice. I started at 9am yesterday and didnt get home til after 10pm. Very productive day.

Well, engine wise everything is together and running strong. there is some exhaust coming through the v-band when the engine warms up to normal operating temp but that should be a quick fix. Last weekend I spent 6 hours fixing and bondoing the dents on the roof. All I have left to do is spray some surfacer sealer again, block it off and start applying primer, paint, and clear. I should get all this done this weekend. here are some pics with my progress.

Alot of progress was made this weekend. I have just about everything masked off and ready for paint. All the hard stuff is over.

^me. They guy that was supposed to paint it got too busy. he has been helping me with all the body work.

finally got it painted. here are some pics. there are some minor defects with the clear in some spots but nothing that a little sanding and buffing wont cure. the hood came out better than I thought it would. it killed me to sit and sand a perfectly good CF hood.
