and by the looks of it they're too afraid to turn it around at the end of the field - probably for fear of throwing a track off of it...

well you wouldnt think that would be a problem, it would be like turning a track-ho around. but maybe with the added weight of the combine vs. the track-ho it would be different

there is no way a combine weighs more than a track hoe

just the counter weight alone weighs alot

well these certainly aren't set up like the tracks on a trackhoe to begin with...

^agreed. Combines look heavier than they are. When looking at it from a scrap metal point of view its really deceiving.

well yeah i guess now that i think of it..like zac stated.. a track-ho weighs more. but still...this is an interesting setup, and for the money that they put into the whole track system and extra hydraulic pump and cooler and everything else involved, they could have boughten a used class with factory tracks

Depending on their pump set-up it may not have enough power to turn the machine around without taking up a lot of time. Backhoes don't exactly turn on the own very easy. Most of the time you rotate the turntable in the opposite direction to get them to turn tight. I put the bucket on the ground and lift the tracks if I am going to turn tight. I would guess if they want to turn they would have to track forward and back at least 5-6 times.

ps. they won't throw a track on flat ground either unless the undercarriage is shot.

The way it looks to me is the turntable still works. :icon_scratch:
