CableOne

Qwest is horrible.
I tried them once.. A 7 MEG downstream and the best I think I ever got was like 1 and 1/2..... Poorly advertised.. Not to mention the latency(PING) was horrible too..
I was seeing 100+++ ms ping/latency. Totally horrible service to go through if your into any sort of online gaming. Not to mention I was on a trial and took the modem back before I was stuck on a contract & they than tried to charge me (even though I brought the stuff back to the Qwest kiosk in the mall, assuming it was all taken care of)
Cable one is easily >> Qwest...
To be honest, I have yet to come across anything better here locally than cable one, but there could be better options.. Just haven't come across it yet.
Downstream & Latency is good for Cable one.
I think I am 3-5 Meg down stream and getting to nearly 6 meg downstream connecting to a wireless modem on a laptop with programs running like MSN/etc.

I wonder what NDSU's was... cuz when I was there u pretty much click download on anything and it was done in no time... I remember back when napster first started it took me 35 min to download one song... needless to say that was the only one i ever did... it was like 24K... we have "high speed" now and it's barely any faster..

You are lucky, when I tried qwest, 702 and ideaone, the fastest I ever got was about what Jason posted up....absolutely gay. Then I went back to cableone and haven't looked back.

WTF i just re did it and gayness
I know exactly why your at that now...if you read your ISP's fine print you have a cap of what you can upload and download in a 24 hr period. If you go over, they throttle your speed down. Ie. have a 3mb speed, go over, they will throttle you to 1mb for the rest of the day. So if you wanna download a shit ton, do it at night so you won't be throttled for the rest of the day.

I returned and everything at the malls kiosk, and thought everythign was good until many months later I started getting colelction calls, when I made sure I had a 30-day trial period.. I even tried to give them a fair shot.. Talked to tech guys, did speedtests on speedtest.net, toast.net.. Checked for latency/downstream on all of them connecting to different servers.. Never ever did I get any reasonable downstream.. 1 1/2 megs was about it when I was on a 7 meg plan. -- Needless to say, I would higly reccomend to everyone not to try that service. Cable1 really doesn't give me issues, only thing I have noticed is once in a blue moon they are down for like an evening..

ok this is a weird coincidence...I was on the phone with Cable One last night because I was clocking at 2600 kbs but I pay for 5 Mb. They investigated and told me that there was a problem on their end (it wasnt my computer or modem). He had to forward the problem to the engineering department because he wasn't able to fix it. Needless to say my internet is still not working fast enough. I'm only averaging 40 kbps download time on torrent...I didn't tell him that is what I needed it for though (that wouldn't have been smart).

Midcontinnent is moving into the area and HOPEFULLY will give cableone some competition as far as service and prices...

No probs where I live. My only issue is my POS router having to be reset all the fuckin time. Anybody have any ideas why that is?Because its a wireless network. It happenes to my brand new belkin router once a week.
I believe it has something to do with the conectivity between the router and the server.
