I guess I don't have any problem with Rota, or other knock off wheels, especially when they aren't on really high hp type cars.

Hopefully you guys can see this. I thought this was nuts. Rota's before and after Nurburgring....

I doubt this is a common occurrence with them, but damn.

I never had any problems with mine. I autocrossed and drag raced with them. Same with jeremy in his wrx.

Any wheel can break if u put it through enough abuse. So wes are you going to put them through that kind of abuse. More than me or even jeremy?

on another thread it was said that the caliper was hitting the wheel or somethign like that. that's why the wheel did that.

Cheap knock offs or expensive name brand wheels, you can't see the name when there spinning anyways.:D

pretty good for the price. it shouldn't be a porblem on a lower hp car.

Ok now that I have time to post here's my view, knockoffs weigh more, for example a Rota Slipstream in a 15 x 6.5 weighs 11.9lbs, where as a Spoon SW388 in the same size weighs 8.6lbs. Not saying they are not going to hold up but the Rota is a cast wheel, while the Spoon is forged. And also there is the fact that it's a knockoff... If I judge a car show i'd definately not give near the same points for someone that has knockoffs, to me a well built car (like your car is, as far as i've heard) has real and quality parts. The only knockoff piece I plan on buying for my car is the body kit, since I can't find the actual Mugen one. IMO i'd rather have a old set of Volks that need to be redone than a set of new Rotas...

The Rotas from that ZX2 forum ROFL...... They are from Rapid City, SD. If somoene could afford to race on the N. Ring, they would not have Rotas cause they can afford what ever they want.

I saw a thread once where someone thought there was a defect with a set of Rotas, so Rota tested them and determined there was no defects, but they offered to exchange them for anyone that didn't feel comfortable with them. That is a pretty good company if you ask me, and honestly, I would rather have a fast car and spend that money on performance, than have elite baller status wheels. Im not impressed by a slow car with baller wheels....

Sooooo true. I held and actual spoon SW388 the other day and I could not believe how light it was, with the tire. Absolutely ridiculous, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.

From a retailers stand point I can tell you this. Rota has a solid place in the market, and especially in the Subaru scene. Their wheels are knock offs, heavier, cast, and less expensive. I have owned 2 sets, and have sold probably 50 sets and have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. The finish lasts, I have NEVER warrantied a single wheel, and they hold their value if taken care off. I have read articles on the internet that claim a wheel failed. I am sure it has happened, but I am sure that every cast wheel has had a few failures. Just like Ferrari has more than likely had a car that never worked right from the start.

I would buy another set of Rotas, I will continue to sell Rotas, and I will continue to have great success with Rota...

sidenote: Look at 80% of the brands affordable to the 'average' tuner. What wheels aren't knock offs?

I'd take new Rota's over used old school Volks anyday.

Not trying to push anyone's buttons, but I never understood why STi owners ditch the factory BBS wheels for Rotas. Seems like a downgrade, if you ask me.

Typically STi owners buy Rota's for winter wheels, if they ditch the BBS's for their 'everyday wheels', then I would agree with your statement.
