no i was actually about 20 feet behind and one lane to the left and watched it happen to someone else last year. It literally sprayed up and hit them like 7 or 8 times in sequence. I couldnt believe it. Its lucky that it wasnt very cold at the time

Yeah the thing doesn't work below 20 degrees I believe...some stupid temp that we are well below at least 80% of the winter season it seems like. They spent $2 Million on a bridge de-icing system that DOES NOT WORK below freezing basically and when it does work it just causes accidents because the shit they spray freezes.

LOL I was in the right lane one day when the fuckers popped up and started spraying. It startled me so bad that I swerved all the way over onto the shoulder. I laughed pretty good after it happened. They need to add something to warn you that they are about to pop up.

If it only tends to work on 20 + degree weather, it should be setup that it only is used than. It would work pretty good than in my opinion, since around those temperatures, it's either basically teh beginning or end of winter. And we all know how people drive in the beginning. (Very dumb and into the ditch) They could do that or find a better compound of deicer versus what they are using now.

thats not true at all, even good drivers get into accidents. it doesnt help when every day your going 55-60 across an ice skating rink in the morning. with those odds bad things are bound to happen eventually

I believe salt doesnt work below something like -10? Sanding is the only thing they can do right now(wish they'd do that atleast). Hopefully they will be busy the next couple of days with 20degree weather plowing the snow packed streets...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

BTW, that bridge deicing system works when the pavement temp is above 12degrees...wouldn't think it'd be too hard to reach 12degree temp on the interstate...wait its Fargo-Moorhead, every drives 35-40 on the freeway...
