I think the guy with the low 12 second cummins should bring a real pickup back again

who cares about a PSD, it will be gone very shortly for good reason and we will see if ford does a better job than navistar

I don't know if he will be back. He was up here for another reason and knew there was a track day so stopped out.

Maybe my dad should just get to it and build the cummins he has wanted to do for years. I am still puzzled why he has not yet. Messing with diesels is what he loves to do, and his job.

Whats your beef with bracket racers?

I have always been one you know. I dont rip on test and tuners.
I do take offense to your disparaging comments regarding bracket racers.

I don't have a beef with bracket racers, I have a beef with bracket "racing".

I've been racing in one form or another (hillclimb, motocross, roadracing) since the mid 70's (yes I'm that old). To me, "real" racing is when you try to beat the other guy to the finish line no matter what, you try to get there as quickly as you can by riding/driving better than the other guy, and by having a better prepared machine. I don't think that giving someone a head start because their car is slower than the other guys, or because he has a delay box make his car slower, is real racing. It's just farting around on a track. So, rather than sit at the light for 5 or 6 seconds while the other guy gets a head start, I'd rather just work at getting my car to go quicker. Why do you think we don't get spectators for bracket racing? Because it's boring. A minivan racing a 11 sec car? Who's ridiculous idea is that?

To me, drag racing should have classes set up based on weight, displacement, etc and then you run heads up. Run what you brung and if you didn't bring enough, you work on it until you do.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

So you believe in the person with the most money should win. I believe the best driver should win. I guess when you race Lutz, Glidden, Lynch, or any other heads up racer and win, I will have to rethink my stance. When and where will you be racing heads up this year?

As with any "racing", it should be a combination of driver and vehicle setup. Does the best "driver" always win out at the the West Fargo circle track races? at nascar? At F1? No, real racing is trying to go faster than the other guy using a combination of driving ability and vehicle setup. (emphasis on the trying to go faster than the other guy).

                    🙂

If drag racing had proper classes set up it could be exciting to race and exciting to watch. The reason there are no spectators at ISD (other than poor marketing) is that the average joe doesn't think bracket racing is real racing. They will ask why does he one guy get to take off before the other... and then you have to explain that you can't to too fast either, or you are disqualified. The common reply is "wtf is that"?

As for heads up racing, we were at BIR for the Muscle car shootout races yesterday. Heads up racing and yes, it rocked.

this explains why you are on a never ending quest to make your drag car even faster then.

for myself the sights and sounds are HUGE. burnouts, race gas cars goig by fast.

not keen on brackets due to above mentioned reasons, Daves reasons) but i do like to go watch if possible.
if i lived closer to a track i would be there more often for the sights and sounds if nothing else. oh and likely taking pics too. but i live in thief river so its a jaunt for me to get to any track
