So I got a wild hair to start a small snow blowing business this year and I wanted to Use my topper on my Truck to try to deter theft of equiptment. anyways, it wasnt tall enough and I needed about 4 1/2 inches and I was trying to do it fairly cheap.
I plan on attaching something to the 2x4s so you cant see the wood like diamond plate or something. I know its ghetto but it works awesome and it cost me 16 bucks

Is there something you are going to put between the back lift of the topper and the tailgate? I guess I would consider that ~5" opening to be a deal breaker for 'deterring thieves'. Along with the issue of snow/ice buildup inside...

The topper covers the tailgate up by 1 inch regularly so its about a 3 inch opening. Nothing that I Have in my Bed can fit through it(only Shovels and a snow blower). I will see if the ice/snow becomes a problem, if so, I will address it.
