I whent through a 1200 watt explode amp, and a 1800 watt pioneer amp with those things, and they are now running on a diamond audio 800 watt amp and bump louder than ever. Although my one sub is just as loud and more crisp then them Im still proud of those things. Your buddy must be a retard. You dont even know what sub I have now, or my amp. Your buddy must have got his sonys from walmart. Btw the sub I have now I had two of them for a while and the first coulple seconds of trying them both in my car my rearview mirror came unglued from my windshiled. literally like 10 seconds into the first song. But I will say sony>rockford. They both can make a good product though, but you wont find them at walmart or bestbuy.

BU) They do make good products both of them i just never really cared for the Sony subs but that's just me, to each there own. And i ain't going to hate on anyone who has them. I was just giving my 2 cents, and experience with them. -

But you probably are right with the proper set up. Because every one i know that have had Sony's new nothing about car audio, they just bought it at the store cuz they wanted subs and that's what they picked. And ya every sub is capable of quiet a bit so i am sure my opinion could change pretty quickly if i heard it with a nice set up. ( I use to be very biased and wouldn't buy anything but JL or Rockford cuz that's what the brother and sister had, you know. But after dealing and talking with chuck and i am growing out of all that. Heck RF's just blow right away if you give them there peak power for more then like 5 mins anyways haha
