Remind me NEVER to buy a VW/Audi. What kind of a piece of shit requires $4600 worth of timing belt service at 80k? Might as well drive an American car and just replace the whole engine as preventative maintenance at 80k and still be ahead.thats simply fucking awesome

According to the guy I talked to, it's common to see both the VW and Audi engines do this. He knew exactly what I was talking about soon as I said "Toaureg". For him to be in parts and know about that vehicle is saying at least a little bit. It's needed. If they work on the price, that would be awesome.

Valley Imports sucks, it just sucks we live in Fargo and have to deal with it cause they know they can get away with shit like that...when lambo guy had to get his oil changed,i heard they need to call lambo to find out where to drain the oil or something?
that right there should tell you them, and their techs are way out of their league when it comes to shit.
fuck em. i'd go to the cities for a 2nd opinion...unless its already too late and minneapolis is too far from minot..

agreed, you could find a used motor and pay a random shop to put it in for under 9k....

just a wild ass guess since you weren't positive what year I went with a 2005...labor time on it is 8.0 hrs for timing belt, cam seals, timing drive pulley, timing idler pulley, timing tensioner, and water pump....which at $200/hr labor would be $1600, so either their parts are more rediculous than they have ever been (doubtful) or they are screwing you from the get-go. And now they have added an r/r engine to "de-sludge" it...come on now man.
Tell me what year/engine it is, what all they are doing exactly, and what parts they are replacing and I'll tell you how bad your dad is getting screwed. (i'll even tell you with their labor rate/retail part prices)

You think I'm fucking retarded? It's obvious they are taking advantage of him because he's not a mechanic and buffed up on "car knowledge". I made this thread because I didn't buy into this "sludged up" bullshit and wanted someone just to confirm there was an actual problem and not just some fuckwad making shit up. The service writer has been shady as shit laying guilt on my dad like "ohh my mechanic wouldn't feel right just throwing this back together, it's like a band aid fix".... After some research sludge really has been a problem with these and other VW's. The 25 hours of labor I highly doubt though. You have nothing to contribute to this thread though. I asked for a little favor and got 3 pages of bullshit just like any other time I've been on fargostreet haha. BTW I AM a mechanic but my dad wanted work done by a VW dealership and there was some special tools that had to be bought so no one in Minot would do it.

Holy fuck man. Take a midol and throw in a fucking tampon. Reread what I posted. I WAS going to give you a legit estimate of what it SHOULD cost with their parts/labor prices. Maybe then your dad could go in and say "hey, I've done my research and even at your rates it should only cost $xxx where the hell is this extra $yyy coming from?" How would that have been "nothing to contribute to this thread"?
As far as "de-sludging" run a fucking can of motor flush through it and let her buck.
As far as you being a mechanic:
- Changing oil and putting on tires doesn't make you a mechanic
- If you knew a god damned thing about turning wrench then you would have known that they were fucking your dad and you wouldn't have made this thread to begin with
- You must be a pretty good "mechanic" if your own dad would rather take his car to a dealership that is very well known for fucking people than his own kid
- If you were a real "mechanic" then you would know that 90% of the time when a job says you need special tools, it's fucking b.s. and if you don't have it you can probably figure out a way to do the job without it.
So, I WAS legitimately offering you some help, but your fucking panties were riding a little high in your vagina when you read my post and decided to fucking cry about it, so I guess you can just go ahead and fuck off.
Make sure next time you see your dad you punch him in the dick so he will never be able to create another gem like you.
Oh, and have a nice day.

Gay shitWell for one before I had made the thread I had already figured out he was getting screwed. Not the anal screwing you are used to though. I made the thread to see if someone who worked their could check and see if this sludge shit was a complete lie or not. I didn't believe it. After some research it seems like it's a pretty big deal, I found some info on a few lawsuits against VW for it. Most of the shit I read stated that it was to the point where it had to be physically removed not the "motor flush" or diesel oil trick.
I didn't ask for anyones opinion. My dad owns a VW and he likes it. Great for him! He hasn't had a single problem with it. I've owned one and I hated it. Does that mean everyone should come in this thread and hate on VW? Is that what you have to do to make yourself feel better about your shitty life? Yes I am a mechanic and no I don't do oil/tire changes. My dad never asked me to work on it because they had planned a trip to fargo anyways so they brought the VW and the Audi down there. I barely see my dad so it never really even came up. I guess when he brought it down there he was only expecting to replace a sensor because he isn't even at 80k miles yet. Apparently there is a timing belt sensor that goes bad and gives a CEL when there isn't anything wrong. But he ended up getting talked into leaving it in fargo and doing the belt.
For real though what the fuck did you expect in response to what you had to say? I ask a simple fucking question that wasn't directed to you at all and you say this?

first mistake, purchasing a VW, second mistake getting any non warranty/non recall work done at a dealership (esp. valley imports)Sucks, but lesson learned.
Great, thanks for the help shitbag. After saying that do you think I'm going to take anything you say seriously? Fuck right off.
darkelvis;308516 wrote:

I don't give a fuck if you are a mechanic either. You act like a fucking faggot on here and that's how I'll fucking treat you.

I'm from minot and my dad has his VW touareg in for service. Somehow it turned from a 4600$ timing chain job into a 9000$ job because of "sludge" in the motor. I just don't want my dad getting erked around because he isn't a mechanic and he's 4 hours away. If I was there I'd come do a check on it, kind of hard to believe IMO. I just want to know if there is any truth to this. They are talking about having to take out the motor and stuff and something just seems off to me.darkelvis;308080 wrote:

IDK man, I DON'T think darkelvis was being a prick at all. In fact, it seems like he was trying to give an alternative quote on what the rates would be to do whatever it is that Valley Imports has stated needs to be done, thereby giving you bargaining power with Valley Imports. YOU however got all pissy with the one guy who actually had anything constructive to add to this whole argument. He then turned around and bitch-slapped you like a $5 whore and made you look like a sally in front of the rest of us.
Shut up, put your tail between your legs and walk away. You are on the losing end of this argument.
