Its really not that hard. All you need is some access to certain forms to create a phony record. In fact if he claims he was a Marine, all he needs in order to get into the Army reserve is a DD 214. All one would need to do is forge that document, have a valid birth cert, SSN and he is in. It is really not that hard. The only way anyone would catch anything is if there were some crazy awards that arent common. the Army does not do any extensive backround checks for prior service people.
