USB connection disconnects while tethering
-
I have been tethering using usb for my home internet connection. Usually works great for just browsing the web. If I try to download something the usb stops working. I have to unplug the usb cable and plug it back in and it will work fine.
I'm thinking the phone is pulling to much power and disconnecting the usb.
I could try tethering using wifi or bluetooth. Or what other options do I have? Is there a usb hub that will boost the power?

You can't really physically boost the voltage from a USB port. They put out a pretty constant 5v. Something like that USB dvd burner will use one port for power and one port for data transfer because one port alone isn't enough. I've built all sorts of USB gadgets and low power is usually an issue.
That being said, I have no idea what the problem would be. I've never had an issue tethering.

I use wmwifirouter. On my phone under cellular connection it says connected
under usb it also says connected. It just no longer transmits the data singal to usb. My phone does still charge though. I'm going to check tonight but I think it disconnects more often when I have a dead battery.
What would be better to tether bluetooth or wifi?
