do you fall within the reach of multiband's wireless that they provide?

I would think that you would.

Man, I'm sorry that the speeds are so shitty for you over there man, I was really hoping what we provided would have worked for you (when I was at IdeaOne). Try calling Marty @ Ideaone 701.361.0534 and explain the situation if you haven't already....if he isn't any help try Christel Fritz or Mike Mack @ Ideaone. I can't imagine that you are the only ones complaining...I'd think everyone from Crystal Piers Marine on down the block would be demanding faster service.
All of the DSL providers using the same lines in your area of town (all Qwest lines) and I don't foresee most of them crossing the road. Maybe Qwest would, but I wouldn't count on it.
Or maybe Hughesnet satellite?

We have Dakota Carrier Network at our offices, seems pretty good but we need to upgrade servers. I believe General Equipment just down the road from you guys still have them as well (might want to check with Sarah there, she'd know the best).

Well, it's still not horribly fast but it's an option?

I think the goals are still to expand the 1.5m and 3m services but no idea when.Or, Verizon hotspot?

What kind of budget do you have available for internet service Jason?

Sat has a 5gb datacap per month.

Check that out... you'll have better (much better) then 256k with that... >1mbps. Uses Sprint's 3G Network. You should be able to pick this up at any Radioshack.

I have spoke with IdeaOne on many occasions about this, and today they said they are going to stop into the surrounding businesses and see if anyone else would want faster service. They had some 3 letter abbreviation that they were going to do, which basically would evaluate the cost vs. return on their end to put new cable in the ground....

The current service drops constantly, and at optimum speed is very difficult to load any page with flash in an acceptable time frame. I am not hating on IdeaOne, just hate the fact that my options are limited to such ancient service.

I will research this more tomorrow as well.
Thank you all for the help, I have a few options to look into and will hopefully be able to come up with a new plan. I think 3mbps would be more than plenty...hell 1mbps would be great....

Coming from Midco in Moorhead, I knew I would be disappointed moving into fargo. We ended up going with 702 Communications DSL and honestly I have no complaints. Its WAY better than I expected. Don't know where their coverage area is, but its way better than the DSL I have had in the past.

AFAIK IdeaOne is the only DSL based ISP that has it's own lines (copper & fiber) buried in Fargo.....unless Integra has gotten into the game now (there was talk a while back about it, but I'm uncertain as I'm out of that game now)
EDIT: Also, I believe Cableone has upped their speeds in fargo as well, I know that Stephen Bradley has 50mbps service at his house in S Fargo now.
