Right now im planning on making a custom 18inch Kicker Enclosure in my eclipse....and trying to fit my zex kit in with it too.....overall the SPL should be good...but SQ will be shitty as hell...but i do have 2 sets of 6x9's....6.5's.....and 4 tweeters.

i'm a sq type of guy myself. i use to be big into stereo systems, but then 2 months before college started two years ago someone broke out the back window of my car and stole out approx 1500 dollars in stereo equipment. then i had college and no money so i kinda fell out of the stereo craze. i still have to have a descent system, but i go for moderate weight and nice sound quality.so, it doesn't effect your speed as much

I have done both sq and spl, I have gone to 10 comps or so, and placed in most of them. When I had my probe I won regions in DL, in my power class. I hit 153 db with two 15". Then I kinda went to sq after that. I have also placed in sq comps to. Right now I have a little of both, but I would def say it is more of an sq car than a spl car. I can still hang with most systems out there. I am a big fan of SQ myself, just love good clean music.

i used to have two 12 inch jl w3 and a phoenix gold 250x2 amp, but then my car rattled too much and it got very annoying.
Decent subs are always gonna rattle a car
. Try using a sound deadener to clean it up. I found a Dynamat trunk kit on Ebay for 60 shipped and it has probably been the best car audio investment I have made. -
Yeah, sound deadening material works wonders for rattles....but it adds weight. I kinda like the Cascade brand of liquid sound deadener, weighs less than conventional dynamat and works well.

liquid sound deadener works very well...

mulitpurpose expanding foam is the worst product on the market today. I hope you didnt ruin anything by using it.

multipurpose expanding foam. cheap and gets the job done.damn ricer! i was into the car systems for awhile, but then now all i want is some nice componants and a good cd player and that will do me just fine.

I have to agree, expanding foam is not a very good thing to use for sound deadening and can wreak havoc on any panel you spray it behind. Stick to the tried and true methods joel.

I used to have a huge stereo in my old Oldsmobile back in high school. Then I transferred it to my 1G DSM when I had that. Since then haven't bothered much with it because my car is a huge bitch too, so when I get a truck or nice dd, then I'll consider some stereo again.

expanding foam does not work at all for sound dending unless its a full room and ur sealing the cornersactually, it kinda does work by applying pressure to a panel to keep it from rattling. But just spreading it on does nothing.
