Maybe its because I have a carbon fiber fetish, but it really pisses me off when people talk shit about carbon fiber hoods/trunks/bumpers/fenders/wings/sideskirts/doors. It seems those that make the most "ricer" comments are those that either:
The above parts are not rice...they are what carbon fiber was made for.....
Rice is carbon fiber air splitters on triple decker wings, "carbon fiber" dash kits, and "carbon fiber" cell phone covers.

I couldn't care less what someone says about me or my car (I drive an auto for gods sake....an AUTOMATIC....I've heard that way too many times...I'm used to comments) it just kinda gets under my skin when people start talking down high quality parts in general.

High quality parts are one thing.....Ricey parts are another. Can't compare the two because they aren't the same. Just like you said, most people that make the comments have no licence/car, a car worth it, can't afford it. My view....why talk down high quality carbon fibre? Most of the nicest cars out there car being made of carbon fibre. Rice.....CF cell phone cover.....ICE, an authentic Mugen CF Hood that costs 1200 bucks. Most ricers out there spend that much on a bunch of cheap shit to put on there cars. Never be able to spend that much just on ONE part. Damn good thread, finally someone vented.
How many ricers spend 500 on HIDS?????when they can go and buy WANNABES bulbs for 20-60 bucks? or a fake CF hood for 100 that has to be hacked to hell because it dont fit right.

I made one comment about carbon fiber being rice because I was J-O-K-I-N-G jesus chuck bite my balls off while your at it huh? J/K dude... I dont think carbon fiber is rice at all was just fuckin around. And I dont fall under the category of not having a lissence, a car worth what a carbon fiber hood cost, or whatever the 3rd was
I like carbon fiber parts they arent even close to rice... rice = outrageous body kits, aluminum wings, neon lights, shit like that.... Or crooked fart cans on a completely stock honda civic riding on steelies... thats rice.

ok, my take, I avoid rice comments but here goes. I can get carbon fiber for my car, an many of the same parts as you guys. However, if I have it, you won't see it. You'll have to ask or I'll tell ya. "IN MY OPINION" (see that with the quotes?) If you insist on showing it off, it's kind ricey. However, if you hide it that shows stealth and not that it's just about the looks. Because for a lot of guys, it is about the looks. Yes I also have heard that it is tough to paint, but I'd still do it. Big pointless spoilers? rice. Look at nascar, they are faster than damn near all of us, all they have is a duckbill spoiler. also explain why a big spoiler on the back of a front wheel drive, I understand that the ass has to stay planted too, but you do lose traction due to too much weight transfer. A body kit that looks like it belongs on a jet fighter? rice. Especially if it is made out of fiberglass, the physics show that you have to go twice as fast per weight ratio than the typical stock one to make it effective. (something like that, motor trend is not in my hands right now). Rice = pointless or showy, even domestics can be rice. I know I saw a pic on here of a 6banger mustang cobra wannabe with 6 diff colors of blue, Young kid when I saw him, I revved at him, asked him what his sounds like, and he turned up the stereo. my 1.5 cents. Nice to vent.

The wing may not be fully necessary, I think it could be scaled down a bit, it is for "rally" looks. In a rally car, it is helpfull. But hey at least you didn't adopt the spoiler with a bunch of vertical slats in it. Not anything for show, my Flames are clearly for "show", I said that in my intro. My exhaust at 1 1/2 inches is "show" and so is the cackle of my glasspacks when I really rev it. I gave very specific examples of showy things that are ricey. also "it's kind ricey" should have been "it's kinda ricey" Everybody see KINDA? there are exceptions, rice know who they are. My 2 cents has been input. Oh yeah, Exhaust that is on a slow ass car that drives by my apartment, sound like a pissed off bumblebee, and wakes me up is definitely rice.
P.S. Wanna race it'll be the easiest $50 you'd make. I never said I was fast. Read intro if any questions to what I have.

its cool. i dont really care. lol some of us just like the adnormally large spoiler. but i know what ur talkin about. the double deck wing for FWD cars that dont have much HP.
