I know, I have always just found it funny that ford actually attempted to put a turbo in a mustang.....which in the first place should have a damn big ass motor in it. One day, theyll wake up and realize that they should bring in a bigger motor, and build it right to where itll compete against a vette.....but in the mean time, one of my favorite cars right now is the Lotus Elise.....finally made it over here and now they are looking to supercharge it bringing it to 248 horses.....amazing what that much power will do to a car weight in at only 1400 lbs....i believe or 1700, can't remember.

Yeah even if Ford threw a little ass turbo on the 5.0's from the factory they would of been much more popular imo. But with all the smog issues and what not only the 4 cylie got the turbo. The lotus is def a bad ass car for having so little HP :eek:

Then why are there a shit ton of turbo 4-cyl fords in europe? Ford doesnt see a market for turbo 4-cyl cars in the states hence the reason they never brought the Focus RS here which is a real shame.

Ummm the new GT500 is going to rape a corvette... bad. Detuned version of the Ford GT engine... 5.0 supercharged 450hp 450tq only down fall is an open rear end. Or what about the Saleen mustangs... over priced and ugly but still really fast.

And I remember reading somewhere that over in europe they can buy an elise with a 400hp twin turbo V8.

You're right and I think it's because in general Americans don't like 4 cyl cars and revving them to get power. They want power low in the RPM range. Look at just about any American car, particuarly GM ones. Until very recently they were always strong on the bottom end but awful up high. They always feel great from a stop light but really just make a lot of noise high in the RPM range

A LOT of imports are manufactured in the U.S. Your DSM is still an import because of where it was designed.

That is the original elises....the new ones are only 1.8 liter 4 cylinders....look it up....kinda reminds me of something like a praying mantis or the like, friken wicked!!!

No, the V8 TT Lotus was the Lotus Espirit.

The Elise has always had a 1.8L. The NEW Elise has the Toyota GT-S 1.8L, just as the European versions had in the past.

The US Elise's in past years had a Honda B18C5 under the hood.

The Z06 shouldn't get raped. Really, depending on gearing and weight, a new base model Corvette might be closer than you'd expect.

I think that Elise would beat both, though.

I agree. The new Z06 is much much lighter than the 500 , cobra, and saleen, with similar or more hp/tq.
