Racing on memorial day.....

My best was 14.8 @ 94
It seems like the races come so fast when youre not ready but when you are ready there never so far away.
Next time out my goal is 14.5 and by the end of the summer 13's

Didnt seem like the other 2 STi's there could better then 13.4 or so.Yeah the black one was having a hell of a time getting down there, 13.4 on the dot, he had 1.8 60'........i know that's pretty resonable, prolly just needs more time tuning, or at least more boost!!!!

^impossible on a stock sti...that is if we both talking about the same sti.

Just want to say THANKS to Shane and Tintmasters for:
#1) A great turnout and smooth event Monday May 30th
#2) Letting me **"break" **the "Street Legal Thunder" rules and make a couple passes with a slow unmufflered car... Car ran like a "turd"

so personal thanks from me again,as a better "tune up" is needed before this upcoming weekend, thanks for letting me get the info!!(Plus for personal reasons wanted to see what kind of shape the track was in after 6 hrs of "Street Legal" cars going down it, so
made last pass @ 7:45pm on 10.5 wide tires so I had a better understanding of complaints posted about traction issues.)AGAIN,
HUGE THANKS TO SHANE & TINTMASTERS FOR A GREAT EVENT & TURNOUT!! -

How come I am a better driver by .33 and 2 mph? I bet if you gave me one more shot at it i woulda taken that freak to the 11's.
Now tony get some different tires on and get a wideband on it can you say 25psi? --------------------------- = Blown Head Gasket.... lolhell yeah lets blow this pop stand! lol i want 11s on pump....you coulda taken it again i wouldnt have cared...especially if you came back with an 11sec timeslip and not a broken car

Hey Homer, when I saw that you didn't burn out past the tree I said to myself (he's gonna spin out of the hole)
How bad did you spin/how far off was your 60' from when you would normally hook on a clean track? Even doing the burnout and backing onto my clean strips my car was still spinning just slightly on the launch. If I didn't do the long burnout it would spin terribly.homer wrote:

Dave:
I don't have enough talent to do a drive by burnout, and it is illegal to cross the starting line while doing burnout in the NHRA classes I run.
I didn't spin on the lauch, first 2 passes were pretty mild, changed set up on the 3rd I ran at approx 7:45PM.
Last pass I had a 1.18 60ft, and ran 5.83 @ 129mph at 1/8 mile, but could not get car to pull with power past 1/8 mile, so only ran 9.78 @ 140mph and it should have ran in the 9.30's closer to 155mph with how it was set up to run.
Biggest reason (other than getting handle on tune-up) was to feel personally how much the track would take after 6hrs of street cars. I got my answer.

I guess I need to get rid of the independant rear suspension (and about 1000lb). After the first hour my car spun badly when I didn't burnout to clean the starting line (1.68 60'). After I did the long burnouts I ran 1.503, 1.508, etc. Dennis said my car was still spinning slightly, altho I really couldn't feel it (look forward to watching the video).
Why was the car not pulling on top end? What does the white car weigh?

Car weighs 2724 with me in it.
I wish I knew, was going into high gear about 800 rpms less than normal, (7000 instead of 7800), and had it set up soft, but should have pulled harder instead it nosed over about 800ft.
Alcohol tuning is kicking our a$$ as well as problem with valve train geometry.
, but good news is we have 48hrs to figure it out before the points meet at BIR Friday. -
It was nice to see everyone at teh track.
Next time I will be driving my POS down the 1320 hopefully with a FMIC.:)

i was wondering if anyone else was having with traction. after 3 passes i dropped the air pressure down from 32 to 22 and went from mid 1.9 60' to 2.2-3 60 fts. so i wasnt sure if it was that or if the track was gettin worn.
couldnt muster better then 13.3 on the 2nd pass. rest were 13.4's with 2.0 and a bunch of 13.6's. car kept deciding to start in 2nd gear. even with that it was still spinning.
next time out i'll be shootin for 11's but yall know how that goes :rolleyes:the white foxbody at the the end ran pretty good and so did ur car dave. that tranny of urs shifts nice. powerglide?

What was the DA?

Yeah, on street legal days the track slowly gets worse as more dirt gets on the track, and as the traction compound gets torn off. It didn't seem to affect Homers race car tho, but being lightweight, having the suspension/chassis setup and a healthy sized slick is probably why.
Yes, I run a powerglide.

It was the black one with the charge speed front end, I believe.

I had the small tires on it (29.5x10.5x15), actually thought the starting line was better Monday night than on Sat/Sun, since track temp was finally decent and there was less humidity in the air & I increased air pressure 1 lb to 8.5 lbs, since had too much wrinkle and was folding tires over when launching.
The LC6 held up nicely and track actually has too much rubber on it right now & needs to be scrapped. Alot of sand/dirt was on track from cars parking in the dirt/mud than making runs, but that was the fun part for me, seeing if we could stay in the groove & drive through it, (First pass obviously I didn't and peddled it a couple of times to drive back into it) & the groove was tight and their wasn't much room for error.
**First ** pass was a 10.21 @ 133.47, 2nd pass I didn't get a correct time but with Data Logger info and short times was a high nine leaving soft probobly at the same MPH. 3rd pass was decent up to 660' (9.78 @ 140mph) but car nosed over after that and we just missed the tune and are running too lean with the alcohol with 172 jets & I don't think the 4:88 gears are helping like we thought.
Didn't change suspension, just tire pressure, since only have ladder bar/coil over system and only changes to shock settings and spring rate that I can make will only help on rough tracks.
Hopefully we get it figured out since car is now slower than it was $7K ago & I am still slower than 2Wheeler
