I need some cd deck help.
-
Ok, well, I was helping my cousin hook up a new deck for his old Chrysler Labarron(sp?) Anyway, it's an old car. After we were all done, and turned up the volume sound came out, but so did static. The static only came when it was louder setting of volume, or with the "loud" option turned on. The car has 5 speaker wires, 2 power(+ and ground/-), anttena, and some braded silver wire that was on the old stereo. There's only 1 negative speaker if I'm correct, unless I wired it wrong, and 4 positive, one for each speaker. I was thinking it's due to the one negative wire for all 4 speakers. Or mabye I wired something wrong/forgot to wire.
Anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks in advance!

it could just be the cd player distorting too. i have a really crappy aiwa one right now that disorts when it gets too loud. check all the wiring and make sure its all correct and theyre all connected tight, then check to make sure its not a blown speaker.
if its not any of that, it might be because of what you said. im sure tjamz will say for sure.

Thanks amicheze.
Mabye it's a combo if a few things. The two front speakers are factory speakers, so they're way over 20-30 years old, and are probably blown. Along with the combined all to one negative. I'll see if they're the problem tomorrow when he comes over.Any other ideas why it might be staticy at high volume?

It has what is called a common ground speaker wiring. This cars system only uses 1 physical wire (the positive speaker lead) to send a the + signal to the speakers, it uses common ground to send the negative signal. What you need is a floating ground adaptor OR you need to run a fresh pair of speaker wires to each speaker in the system.
here is some more info
