It is full of BS. Wether is rubbed you the wrong way or not its BS. I've been in this now since i was 15 and these past couple years its turned into more and more BS. If you were around 3-4 years ago then you might be able to comment but you weren't and you haven't watched it deplete into a bunch of BS retards out driving around causing trouble getting kicked out of everywhere. The motorcycle scene has turned into the same thing the past few years as well and that is exactly why i quit riding. We used to be able to hang out in mulitple parking lots w/o any trouble whatsoever. Back then i was the HS kid and we did not act or do nearly anything as dumb and stupid as what is going on now. We hung out, chit chatted, went out in the country and race and had a good time. Now you got goups of retards driving around w/ their BS cars w/ huge wings, 50 diff colors of neons trying to race anything w/ wheels, doing burnouts @ every stoplight, and just plain acting stupid. I visit Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis on frequent monthly basis and they are heads and tails above this BS. The scene here may be getting "larger" but it sure as hell IS NOT getting better. ANd that is exactly why like everyone else said you dont see the nice cars out anymore. Honest to god my IS300 IS NOT FAST but sure as fuck every retard tries to race me everytime i take it anywhere. I can honestly i've never even raced anyone in it.

There are different groups of people around this area....the regular kids that disrespect everyone and drive horrible and try to race everything in sight.......and then there is the more restpectable, less immature people who do something stupid every once in a long while..but when they do..they live up to thier mistakes and take the blame if they get in trouble......and then there are the so called gods....who have done nothing wrong in their lives...or so they think..............well from my point of view thats what i see and understand...-----you chose what group you think you belong to.

I too have seen the scene deteriorate here as well. I first moved to Fargo in the Summer of 2000. The only car person I had really ever talked to online was Tufte, and other than that nobody really. I heard of some cars, heard of a shop and just stopped by. I met some of the coolest car guys I have ever met that summer, and have been friends with them since. I was the new guy, but when you are calm, get along with everyone, and can offer help and ask for help in a nice way people tend to treat you much better.
I've been in the car scene for about 7 years now, 5 of them with my Integra. In Minot it started by having some friends from HS into the scene, hanging out with them, and just being quiet, asking questions, and finally buying a car. The scene in Minot was very fast paced and highly competitive with the "city" vs. "base" thing. Myself, Mike from RS, and Troy, were kindof the leaders there. I think thats where the anti rice stuff came in haha.
Mike and I always had the fastest Hondas, and we always lost to Troy. Hahah.I remember the scene here when I first moved down... our weekends in the summer were spent @ McDonalds on main, NW Audio, Type-R, and NW Autobody. We'd cruise for a bit, bullshit for a long while, and then head out of town in an orderly fashion w/ no large groups of cars going the same direction, and we'd race for hours.
I can only WISH it was like that again....

Refresh my memory quickly, but i dont remember any retards back then doing burnouts in every parking lot, @ every stop light weaving in and out of lanes, throwing garbage everywhere, or starting fights. Funny thing is was we were the young kids those days.

edit: i remember back before i even had my car and would ride with other people...we would drive around and look for all the cool cars that we had around...and every once in awhile we would go watch em race...racing was so different then

yeah i had fun going out to the shop when i was 15-16 and just talk to kevin and burgess, me and tufte didn't really see eye to eye then lol... and i am glad we are able to actually talk and hang out now cause i learn a lot from everyone at SLS, i know i know nothing about cars, and people who are around me know the same thing but i want to learn and that's why i like being able to just sit and talk to people about cars... we have no place to sit and just talk anymore cause idiots like to do stupid shit to "impress" people... like sunday night when me, kirk, mitch, aaron, lucas, gsr, troy, blake were all at sunmart talking after we didn't go to kmart, i had fun sittin there for 2 hours just bullshitting with each other..

i havent been in the fargo area for long but i know exactly what goes on cause it happens everywhere well everywhere ive been and to say that whoever hasnt been here for 5-6 years cant appreciate it is incorrect it took me like three months to figure out who to talk to who to cruise with and whos not going to treat me like an idiot. and so i may not be out everynight rippin up the streets but yea ive done some dumb shit but im really cautious with other drivers if you saw me the night tint masters was out i let people in front of me i always use my blinkers and my cars not fast enough to attract attention like these mommy and daddy ricers... furthermore the people who fucked this up need to stop bitchin about it and own it then move on. but you want the scene to change change it dont give up and pack the cars in the garage cause that sucks whyd you spend money on it to collect dust no we just have to figure some shit out i dont have the answers but if i can help i will.

I also moved to Fargo in the summer of 2000 and I owe a lot of my passion/interest in this sport to Caleb, Scott Keller, Nick Tufte and Dave Henry. When I first moved to Fargo I owned a 1990 S10 truck and my then fiance, now wife, owned a 1994 Cavalier. At Calebs first show-n-shine/bbq at Type-R I won a $50 door prize and since I didn't have anything to use $50 worth of tuner parts/labor on, I bought a 1988 Prelude, did a auto-to-manual conversion in it, dropped it on Neuspeed Springs and Tokico struts, added a short ram intake and a couple other things that were insignificant. Then I did the biggest/best mod ever, I traded it for a WRX and have spent the past 4 years getting to know my car inside and out...weighing all the pros and cons of every performance part I have ever purchased and generally trying to build the best car I can and to fit into the scene the best I can. It sucks to see the scene crumble as it has in the past few years. Thats why we started Veritas Racing, to get a group of individuals together who really appreciate the whole import culture and want to see it advance in Fargo. Yes, we as a club made a stupid mistake, we owned up to it and that issue has been resolved. Point in all of this is that so many of us have tried so hard to make for a good environment for car people in this town that its irritating being out with people who are constantly fucking off and ruining everything that we have tried to do. You MIGHT see me at parking lots hanging out, just because I like to get to know more people...but you ever notice that once the cruising starts a lot of us leave the pack....ever wonder why all the "cool" cars that are highly modded don't stay with you guys? I think the answer is obvious.

i was talking to a buddy earlier about this as i am sure a lot of you have. well i realized we aren't the only town/area that has this problem. you go to any other descent size city and they have the "rice" problem also. where i see us proceding other areas is we have noticed the problem and are trying to change it to better the scene. none of the other scenes i know of are attempting to improve there scene like we are. i think we are headed in the right direction.

i havent read one post in this whole thread simpley becuase the ppl that cruz are going to say they are right andthat they dont do anythign wrong.
the anti-dumbpeople are going to say other im with the anti-dumbpeople on this. yes i have done dumb shit and what not but when 10 stock cars get togather to drive around it gets kinda boring and kinda make u look like a loser in my opinon.PS.. i have no idea if this has anything to do with anything and sry if this makes me look dumb

again, I will request being specific with the green mustang comments, the last thing I want is someone messing with my classic because of the "green Mustang" comments, you never know who is gonna read mid thread and come after me and my classic, not trying to be a dick, just protecting my investment

Man lots of long posts I've replied to tonight, but like alot of others it made me think back to when I first got into the scene. My first car was a 1991 Honda Accord EX, auto, 4 door. Not exactly the greatest platform to start with, but it was what I had when i was younger until I could afford to upgrade. What I learned from that car was so much different then the way we learn now how to swap motors, and actually knowing the answers to questions people ask. Those were when you realized you just had a valid appreciate for cars, and wanted to meet more people that enjoyed cars as much as you did. You wanted to see what people were doing, and find out what you needed to do some of the same things, and to do things different. I started in the scene in Minot with Troy, GSR, Mike, etc..... as these are the only people I know from Minot that frequent the boards here. Sometimes I just wish times could go back to the way they were. When you could take a 1995 Civic Si hatch with intake, header, exhaust, out to race, and be one of the fastest imports in town. Now things are some competitive and unrealistic. But one thing that hasn't changed over the years is that I still love cars, and I want to see things progress not take steps backwards.

I saw fast and the furious four years ago when it came out... lets see that would have made me 15.
Common admit it! I bought a blitz kit becuase I wanted to be like the eclipse in the fast and the furious, and I had blacked out windows and green street glow to be like the civics in there too...
I'm the definition of the fast and furious generation
