Moniters and windows 98 disc

it wont boot. We are doing it like the computer was set up before, it had 98 on it, than once booted, we did the xp clean install. the problem is that the computer wont boot to even install xp, but will boot to install 98.
unless one of you can come over and help us out.

i figured it out, we have the 98 boot disc, but not an xp boot disc, the problem with the computer is that it isnt recognizing a cd rom drive, so you need to boot it from the A drive. my dad explained it to me all wrong. we have the xp disc, we just need to borrow a 98 disc.

have you gone into cmos to make sure that the first boot device is a CD Rom drive? If not, that is probably your problem. It shouldn't need to boot dos drivers to get your CD drive to work, if its recognized in CMOS it should be able to boot winxp.
