Can an a/f gauge be used in tuning with an afc or are the kind of just there for looks? i am looking at gauges and I just want to know what I will actually use.

You can't use them for tuning. They don't do much at wide open throttle, since the gauge reads a narrow voltage range coming from your stock oxygen sensor. I've had a very nice a/f ratio gauge in the past(Split Second ARM-1) and the best thing it did for me was indicate that my oxygen sensor needed to be replaced. There are other ways to figure that out, so it wasn't worth keeping.

If you want the gauge look with a wideband O2, get the UEGO. Its the only gauge (that I know of) that actually means anything when its hooked up.

I have my a/f gauge wired into my downstream O2 sensor...this gives me a constant reading unlike what the front O2 does...the constant swithing is for show..the rear O2 gives me a good readout..I have compared it to the wideband

Here you go. I had/have the innovate wideband, works awesome, others on this board use it as well. This will probably be cheaper than the AEM UEGO? Not sure. Worth a look!

I think he was looking for a gauge he could put in a pillar. Otherwise yes, the innovative wideband is very good. I personally use this legacy image

as it datalogs with my ECU. I think the UEGO can be set up to datalog into the AEM unit as well...dunno for sure though.

Look at the link I posted Mr. I am quick to reply. Innovate has a gauge now that can be used with the LM1 or by itself. Oh, and the AEM can be setup to datalog any wideband, AEM rules:)
