What I think is worst about this whole situation is that BOTH sides are trying to politicize this. NOONE was at fault. Most of us are probably thinking "They knew the damn hurricane was coming, why didn't they leave?" Reality is, not everyone had a means of leaving. Even some of those with cars had no way to leave (roads overly congested, immovable relatives/loved ones at home, fear of leaving behind what is familiar, denial, nowhere to go, unable to afford to stay in a hotel or other lodging, no vehicles, etc...)
Thats not a political issue, thats just the facts. I find it incredible that 80% of N.O. managed to get out of town before it hit. That number is quite impressive.
But you're right Kirk, some far left liberal will probably take exception to the way looters and rioters are being treated by law enforcement. I guarantee you that not all will however.

Yakuza Caused Katrina
Weatherman Scott Stevens claims that "Japanese gangsters known as the Yakuza caused Hurricane Katrina." Here are more detailsScott Stevens says after looking at NASA satellite photos of the hurricane, he is convinced it was caused by electromagnetic generators from ground-based microwave transmitters. The generators emit a soundwave between three and 30 megahertz and Stevens claims the Russians invented the storm-creating technology back in 1976 and sold it to others in the late 1980s. Stevens says the clouds formed by the generators are different than normal clouds and are able to appear out of nowhere and says Katrina had many rotation points that are unusual for hurricanes. My brother was in Corpus until this morning. I called him last night and he said that people down there are very well prepared for big storms as far as getting out of town goes. He flew out this morning, thank God!This is gonna be another big one
