Katrina and Rita you bitch

There should have never been a city there. Its kind of like building a house right on the red river then wondering why you have to rebuild every year.
Are they going to rebuild the whole city?
does anyone else think this is kinda retarded, like, did they seriously think this would never happen? -

So how much in aid funds do you think we'll recieve from countries? I know we get a bad rep if we dont send aid right away(hence the Tsunami) but we sent MILLIONS or perhaps Billions, i dunno the exact # in money, supplies, medicine, help. How much do you think we'll see from countries we've helped out in the past. Or else perhaps the UN getting involved and sending troops from other countries to help with search and rescue?
I predict 0 foreign troops, and not a red cent for funds.
If this is the answer, I hope Bush would never help any of these pocket digging bastard countries ever again.
there was actually alot of offers from allied contries to come in and assist in the relief of new orleans. our stupid government refused to take the help. i dont know if it was money or troops i just know that they were willing to help -

it wasn't a very smart idea to pretty much build a town over water... I guess there's a possibility that there may no longer be a new orleans.... sucks for the people who live there, it's too bad, but nothing really anyone can do

I guess they could have said that about grand forks in 97 or Devils Lake since 1994... or the millions of other areas that see 100+ year floods

theres plenty of huges cities on the water taht can get hurricanes. Miami, Orlando(45 min it,same difference), tampa, hell even Houston can get a hurricane. Its not that its ont he water, its the fact that its over 10 feet below sea level tahts letting it kick its ass. Plus i spose it doesnt help having a gigantic lake north of it.

thats true....

New Orleans is about 10ft below sea water, to make matter worse, one of the nation's largest lake is on one side, mississippi on the other side. New Orleans is like a crater.

Shit has now officially hit the fan. According to foxnews due to the rampant crime in New Orleans the mayor of New Orleans has just released a statement telling all police officers to vacate the city and let the military deal with it. They were showing clips of the looting, fighting, etc... it is getting pretty nasty. Many people are saying it will be a full blown riot by tomorrow morning.

What I think is worst about this whole situation is that BOTH sides are trying to politicize this. NOONE was at fault. Most of us are probably thinking "They knew the damn hurricane was coming, why didn't they leave?" Reality is, not everyone had a means of leaving. Even some of those with cars had no way to leave (roads overly congested, immovable relatives/loved ones at home, fear of leaving behind what is familiar, denial, nowhere to go, unable to afford to stay in a hotel or other lodging, no vehicles, etc...)
Thats not a political issue, thats just the facts. I find it incredible that 80% of N.O. managed to get out of town before it hit. That number is quite impressive.
But you're right Kirk, some far left liberal will probably take exception to the way looters and rioters are being treated by law enforcement. I guarantee you that not all will however.
