Me and LankorDie are tearing down a d16 bottom end. We're at the point where we want to pull the crank out. But this is blocking us from pulling it out. I believe its the oil pump gear. How do we get it off so we can take off the endcap and lift the crank out?

I am not familiar with that engine at all, so I would advise caution here. But I would say look around it and see if there are any set screws or pins of any sort, something hidden and if not check to see if it looks like it was a pressure fit on the shaft and try a gear puller. That would be my guess here. but yeah, hopefully someone else has a better idea or has worked on that engine before.

looks like a gear puller would do it, but don't quote me on that. 🙂

When in doubt, use a gear puller...Also, I can't remember, but I believe that there is a front case assembly that contains the oil pump that needs to be removed, dont quote me on that.

no need for a gear puller, i just pulled this off my engine

there should be some 10mm bolts across the front, remove those then you may have to pry a lil to get it off of there
