LAN party season up and running

EDIT Drake actually sucks at the game, but would like to bet any random people to a 1v1 deathmatch for any sum of cash.

bf1942 is not quite as much fun without quite a few players... unless we have 2-4 people on a team against the cpu players, and i set up the game with them having a slight advantage

I finally gave Enemy Territory a try. Damn, I'm fuckin' horrible. I'm more familiar with BF1942 than this game, but I haven't tried running BF1942 on Linux yet.

i personall prefer et to bf1942 because it has more to do. there's way more than just capture the flag, and the only gun capable of a 1 shot kill is the sniper rifle, so you have to be pretty good at aiming. overall, et gets 8-9 out of 10 in my book; however, bf1942 ranks right up next to et because it has ai and such a variety of vehicles

why dont you ladies pick up a real LAN war game like SOCOM instead of this shitty bf1942.

i have call of duty, played it online, sucks.

Computer FPS games are way better then console FPS games, even something like socom where its 3rd person... still sucks. I hate the controlls on that game, and shit I havent used my PS2 for like... 6-7months its just collecting dust

there's like 3 different controller presets... you can not tell me none of them fit the style you like....

1. because it would cost way more (hardware and software) to play socom than the games we have.
2. online is not the same as lan, so don't go there.

i haven't played socom, i don't intend to. come up with all the excuses that you want for why i don't play console fps's; plain and simple, i like them about as much as i like street racing syndicate

now stop whoring this thread, it's not about games preferences, this is about organizing regular lan parties.

i did not say it meant anything, i was implying that someone not liking a game because of the controls is perfectly legitimate, especially if they can't be customized.

you planning to finance this? none of the people that come to the lan parties have it, so it's never been an issue. the games that we play, everyone has, or they're free (ie enemy territory, warcraft2 spawn install, etc)

well... i'm hitting the sack early tonight... so, anyone that is interested in joining up this weekend (probably going to be happening friday and saturday), please pm me your phone # and a good time to call.
gaming usually starts 7-10pm, depending on how long it takes for people to show up and get stuff installed (assuming new machines). of course, we play until enthusiasm dwindles, somewhere in the 3-4am ballpark.
if i get time to go out for groceries, i'll have soda and some sort of munchies.
