I wonder if they realize that a large portion of the import community is a hard working group of "older" people who have careers and families and that it is a hobby which is enjoyable to all.

Yep, you're right. There are plenty of people who are responsible behind the wheel, however I believe that the people who are bitching about the new enforcement are the ones who are not responsible. I have no problem with the new enforcement, and I even welcome it, because its annoying as hell to hear the buzz boxes at all hours ripping around. I know that I most likely won't get pulled over for noise, because I know how much it sucks to hear loud exhaust when you're trying to study or sleep, so I try to keep my foot out of it. There is a time and place to step on it, such as getting on the freeway, or out of town, or at the track. Down busy city streets is not the place to do that, and the people who do are going to get fucked, and I have no sympathy for them. The people know what they are doing is wrong, and they are just mad because the police are calling them on the carpet.

For the 999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999th time this thread. Noone is complaining that their is such an ordinance, rather they are upset by the way law enforcement has stated PUBLICLY that they are going to target modified imports.

You are quite possibly the biggest idiot to ever visit this board (thats saying quite a bit). Loud trucks making up 7% of the loudness of cars in the midwest....BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I've lived in ND my entire life. When I was an inspector I went around to all these "midwest towns" that you speak of. I'd be willing to bet that the numbers you quoted are quite possibly the other way around....90% being loud muscle cars/trucks whilst the other 10% being loud imports. Have you ever been around a diesel pickup? Their loud AND they stink. I guarantee you at idle/normal driving speeds they are louder than my car. Why do they get a free pass?
AGAIN. I am 10000000000000% ok with them ticketing imports so long as they are also ticketing deserving domestic cars/trucks.
I don't know why I have to explain this shit to you over and over and over again. Yes, we have loud cars. Yes some of us are very deserving of the tickets. BUT so are many other cars. I've NEVER revved my car at a muscle car/pickup, yet they always feel the need to rev me and call me names. I've personally seen 2 vehicles hit other cars while thinking I would race them (once on main by 8th St....guy ran a red and smacked a turning car in his pickup...I never even revved, the other time when I was in my bone stock 1988 Honda Prelude). I gave them no indication that I thought I was fast. I gave them no indication that I thought their car sucked. They just proceded to take off like madmen and got in accidents. I felt sorry for the people they hit, but I sure as fuck don't feel the least bit sorry for the inbred hick motherfuckers that think they are big shit and want to race me in town.
Are you saying that if a camaro/mustang/pickup is loud they shouldn't be ticketed? That since they are in fewer numbers (by your calculations) they should be immune from the laws? If you are, then you may be the dumbest fucktard ever to grace the internet with his presence.

Looks like 2 completely different viepoints.
First of all: racial profiling. I support it. Basically, because it makes logical sence. Statistically, it is far more likely that a suicide bomber will be...a young to middle aged Muslim male, rather than......an older catholic woman. If there were a situation where someone had a bomb and it needed to be found before it went off, I would have no problem singling out Muslims and searching them first. Most likely, I would find it on one of them. Save your sob stories, this is simply the brutal truth. If you cannot handle it, crawl back under a rock and wrap yourself in a Kerry Edwards bumper sticker telling yourself it will all be okay.
Second of all: Fargo must be different then. I have noticed that in the Twin Cities, there is not really a problem at all with loud exhaust, such a tiny portion of the population has loud cars that it is not an issue (if you go to Porky's on a Saturday night, this statement is hard to believe). Brainerd, on the other hand, has like 2 loud domestic cars, about a dozen loud trucks, and about 49628076509234 loud import cars. I guess I was thinking of Brainerd when I was trying to imagine Fargo. As far as this point goes, I am going to concede it. I have never been to Fargo, and I guess I should not be making any assumptions or judgement calls. But this does not change the point I was making.
I am all for profiling. And that is what it appears the Fargo police are doing. If the majority of loud cars out there were Camaros, well, if I were an officer, I would be looking for Camaros when issuing citations for loud exhaust. If the majority were Civics, then I would be looking for Civics. Let's say more Camaros do. If I were an officer instructed to crack down on the noise, I would pass up on the Civic I see at the stoplight about to take off, and go a couple of blocks over to where I thought I saw a Camaro, because it is more likely the Camaro's exhaust is too loud than the Civic. And vise versa.

Since people do not understand the term "racial profiling" (thanks to the media), it is assumed to be the same as prejudice, which it is not.
This is not about "looking at someone a certain way", and this is not directly a racial issue, unless you are at war, like we are. There is a time and place for racial profiling, and I support the correct use of it. This is a highly charged political issue in itself, but when you say you have been racially profiled, Jim, I assume then that it was during World War II? If not, you experienced prejudice (which I am not!), not racial profiling, which is used during wartime.
Racial profiling right now directly affects people of middle eastern decent, and more pointedly, immigrants from the middle east, from countries such as Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and such. It is unfortunate that the good, honest, hardworking folks from these places that immigrated here have to put up with this. But here is a news flash for you: most of them support racial profiling.But what you are trying to get all worked up about and turn around on me is not racial profiling, you are trying to paint a picture of me being prejudiced, which I am not.
