From the mouth of a cop regarding the exhaust tickets.

I was thinking about what they want us who race regularly to do. They said it has no purpose on the street, but do they want us to bassically have 2 different motor setups or what, cause the more upgraded the motor, the more it needs to breathe. If you put a stock system on a highly modified motor you can fry it cause there wouldnt be enought flow. I guess im just thinkin out loud so i dont know if this really makes sense.

Ill just chip in my 2 cents worth here, and thats all its worth, is probably 2 cents.is it unfair for fargo police to target "speed racers"? yes.
Is a bunch of whining on an internet forum going to change it? no.
What is wrong with debate?

Dont wanna get busted under the latest gestapo crap being pulled by the Fargo PD? simple. dont run a fart can. its unnecessary, it sounds like crap, and they just suck.Describe a fartcan..........Do you consider this a fartcan? How does this suck?

Ive got an I-6, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust and I run an 18 inch glasspack with a magnaflow flow thru 2.4" muffler. sounds fine, Ive got no complaints or tickets. Of course, I drive a "classic" muscle car. and its not festooned with wings, bad bodykits, decals or any other typical ricer crap.Should it matter what you drive? All cars should be policed the same..........

that being said, I think the over huge red-neck mobiles with confederate flags and straight pipes are a far bigger problem in fargo than the fart can factor. Also, harleys REALLY annoy me. I mean, when they go by, it almost hurts my ears, seriously.Agreed.

Loud does not equal more flow. You can still run a muffler that makes it quiet, and still get good performance.

Anyways, as long as they come up with some sort of db limit on the noise I'll be happy. You can't just have an officer going around and randomly saying "this vehicle is too loud" though. I hope they target every vehicle as well with their db limit. There are more trucks on the road with annoying exhaust then cars.

nothing is wrong with a debate, its just that it wont really change anything, especially how the police view our/your cars.

your exhaust could be considered a fart can, based on looks. but, I think its more about sound. Does your car sound like a chainsaw on crack? Or does it sound like me after a bad night of tacos and heiniken beer? PERSONALLY, I do not like that style of exhaust system, I mean, why do you need a 4.5" exhaust tip when the rest of you system under 3"? I am guilty f this offense but not by choice. Kaleb put my exhaust system on and thought I would like a 4" tip on my 2.5" straight thru muffler, lol
3.I totally agree!!! all cars SHOULD be policed the same, thats one of my main points. Its just not going to happen in fargo, simply because the police suck. And also, I was making a point that my car does not have the typically raspy/farty/chainsaw-y sound of a typical fart can.
I also agree with the fact that they should have established db limits for cars. BUT! this could also play to your advantage if you ever get a ticket. I mean, if you take it to court and fight it, you can argue with the judge that you NEED a set db limit to know what is too loud, otherwise you will not know if your exhaust system is too loud AFTER you fix your car to avoid another ticket.
