whos red ride was that that ended the day a few minutes early by dropping fluids at the top end?
i think it was a VW, but not 100%.
there was a yellow 80's firebird who had to be pushed backwards as it died and could not restart it right away.Monty

So can we get an update on the cars that are down.the electrode on one of the plugs on the front bank is mostly gone for some reason... the headgasket on the rear bank blew as well. I think it siezed on me too but I have not gotten around to trying to wrenching it over. Good times.
I REALLY wanted to get a run in with that SC/N2O setup though. dammit. I think I'll just have to settle for turbo/N2O next year.

Waaaaaait a minute...
Dave, didn't you say that 3rd broke? How in the world did you get to 118mph?
It must have broken after you were able to drive with it for a couple seconds I suppose.
I can only get to 93 in 3rd
I'm procrastinating here at work... and I shouldn't... but in the meantime I thought I would ask that q

The previous weekend I ran 11.02 @ 137mph staying in 3rd gear.
I have 3.77 gears in the rear end and run the engine to 8000rpm. I think the tall 28" tires makes quite a difference. -
holy crap! The max would hit the rev limit in 5th at about 155... with 3.73's
Let me regress in maturity by about 15 years and ask you this question: How fast do you recon that car can go? Factoring in drag and gearing... and whatever else you can think of.
Damn, I'm a lazy mofo today.

I used Cartest to run the numbers tonite, this is assuming that the engine and everything would stay together long enough to do a top speed run...
It would take a little over 5 miles to get up to 215.3mph, that would be at about 7400rpm in 5th gear. The car would not pull to redline. Who wants to be the copilot running the camcorder when we do this?

Is there any tracks we can go to to test top speed? Not for sure if Im comfortable doing so... but I would like to find out.
I know 130mph is around 6k in 4th gear in my car, I have my limiter set at 8500. My 5th gear is also an aftermarket 25% taller gear. -
I don't know of any on this continent. There has to be at least one though.

and I do now they run at the texas mile http://www.texasmile.com/
IIRC, running start at a mile long course.Don't even know where there is a closed piece of concrete big enough around here.. the runway(s) at GFAFB is fairly long isn't it?
I'd love to get out and do a top speed run, but:
#1) speedo quits at 120
#2) my driveshaft isn't balanced past 100... I don't want the yoke breaking at the trans tailshaft and having the driveshaft come through the floor.
#3) stock convertor has been known to balloon at speeds.should be able to do up/around/over 140mph if not better....

i will volunteer Dave. only problem is i am a big guy so it might slow you down a little bit. oh and i do not have a video camera. just a still camera.
