I wonder how long the power inverters will last on those laptops. -

That's just the point... I'd save my money and spend a bit more and buy a real computer that will actually last for awhile and run the way it should.Right.....but some people are cheap asses and buy junk. I am sure it would be alright if you used it for engine management software.

Looks like it is being made by HP. My guess is that walmart is going to use the item as a "Loss-leader" and sell the item below their cost with the hope & expectation that people will spend their money on other items in the store so that they may recoup their initial loss with the sale of software and supplemental hardware. Almost all mass retailers use this technique, including grocery stores, as a way to get people in the door.

399 is 399. You get what you pay for, but I can say that for 400 bucks it'd be a great datalogging/car tuning laptop. You break it or drop it big fuckin deal.

Do you honestly think that any of the sub-1000 laptops are going to provide any better quality then the $399 ones at walmart? there are several other companies that are going to be offering cheap laptops that day too... I'm postive best buy will have some incrediblely low priced ones as well...
Price really isn't an indicator in quality, 3/4 of the shit they sell at best buy is junk

oh no offense at all wes...no big deal whatsoever...i wouldnt mind picking one up myself as just a beater computer to take on trips and use whenever i get a PFC/Datalogit....It runs Linspire doesnt it? I didnt read the article at all but I know that was the rumor before. I have messed around with Linspire and it was ok but nothing special. Hopefully they have the wireless issues fixed cause I took it off my computer cause you couldnt use wireless networking easily...
