Hey, I have an 18 year old honda that's only an inline 4 that puts out 120tq. I've seen dynos from b16s that can't even reach 100.

I've got torque! (well, for a honda)

And what v6 or v8 doesn't have torque? Its a matter of proportion of engine size to torque. And acceleration is torque to weight ratio. How much does that behemoth of a thunderbird weigh in at?

                        They call me, old man...

                              Wow, 3900lbs. That's crazy. V8 I assume?

                                yes.... 281 cubic inch (4.6L) 90* modular V8
                                179HP (4300RPM) 244TQ (3200RPM)

                                Need to get ahold of a 94-95 supercoupe 5speed... 220/320 roughly 🙂

weight is the killer with these cars. Actually the first "real*" Tbirds just hit 10s over the weekend. Both heavily modified....
one was a supercoupe... 3.8L V6, eaton M90 blower, a lot of engine work (Actually a "shop car" for Coy Miller Race Engines) and some nitrous. IRS car and pulling the front wheels...ran 10.85 (125ish IIRC)
other car was a twin screw (or whipple I think actually) blown V8. I think this one was pushing over 500HP/500TQ to the wheels to get to the 10 second range (full interior, fully streetable)

(* I say "real" tbirds 'cause there are a few back-halfed tbirds around running faster of course)

Should be a few more knocking on that door though here real soon.
Matter of fact, good buddy of mine is up in the top 10 I'd guess (per-dyno)...might see him up this way sometime next year hopefully.

Dave, looks like your tires are going flat. 🙂

                                          2000 pounds of torque.
don't need to pull a house! I'd be happy with 500ftlbs (hell, I"d be happy with 300ftlbs from the setup I'd like to have - just need the car to start from and about $6000)
