right, but the SRT10 is not that much faster than the lightning. I'm a little disappointed since the SRT10 has a helluva lot bigger motor than the lightning. I think it needs a little forced induction. 😄

    FASTER THAN DUBBSY

well i think the problem is traction...i remember watching them test em on C&D and they couldnt get traction no matter what they did...my guess is slicks vs slicks would show a very different outcome...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

The nice thing about the Lightning is that a simple pulley and belt change can net some serious hp gains over the SRT.

But to get any real gains further, it will require alot of $$$ and some serious mods to obtain. For modding purposes only, I'd take the lightning.

I'll just get an old GMC Syclone and throw a bigger turbo on and smoke both of those trucks. Then the tranny will fall out, oh well.

Id rather have the lightning because it is actually designed to haul a little. Ive heard that on the visor and in the owners manual of the srt10 that it stats not to haul with it because the truck isn't designed that way. On that note, ive also heard from other techs that Corwin has replaced many tranny/engines in those because of people hauling shit with them.

the SRT is has a faster top end speed over the L but the L is faster in the 1/4....there are many debates between the L and SRT guys...but with a pulley change and a chip the L will smoke the SRT all day long....like others stated the L can haul a load in the bed plus pull a trailer and the SRT says not to....problems with the SRT are the clutches...they dont last very long if driven hard

they are both fast trucks but the L in my mind is the better truck overall...and thats one of the reasons that I have a L swap in my truck

I meant by faster as not in just 1/4 mile. and I am talking stock vs. stock. I definitly would rather have a syclone, plus the price difference in money to mod it. And lightnings get mean fast with mods for sure.

my dad wants to make a diesel monster for the shop truck but they wont have one for a while, but with differant managament it would have already happend.

there is a dodge cummins from gf rocking just under 700hp(and a shit load off tq) and a custom TT setup at 75psi.

out of the srt and L id take a L. but in the end id love a modded diesel

^^ This was another Option, if you didn't want to go F/I ^^

A simple Breakdwon comparing the SRT-10 Ram Vs. The lightning..
                                      A website w/ all the need-to-know info.
                                      http://www.anderson-ford.com/lightningvsram.htm

They compare prices, drivetrain, weight, 0-60's, etc.
They believe that the Overall choice is the Lightning..
I think Towing is probably irrelevant, since if you buy a truck like that; you probably won't be buying it to tow stuff, otherwise you'd buy a truck more practical.

Anyways; rated by C&D, (as we all know, they sometimes 'can' drive, and sometimes can't drive the car very well) The SRT-10 w/o F/I holds the faster ET 🙂 and even could upgrade to that 800 n/a and pull a faster net ET

So my choice, I figure I'd let the opinion of Style/Trim sway me, and I like the looks of the SRT-10 over the Lightning, (being... an Opinion obviously)

But the more I think about it, the Ford Lightning, and the SRT-10 Ram seem to have a weird thing in common, except worked out in Opposite..
The Lightning debuted before the Ford GT.. <-- Obvious Recent models
The SRT-10 Ram came out after the Viper-SRT10, but both have the same engine in both a car and truck. .

If, $$$ was no option to me, I'd go the SRT-10 Ram Route, and throw on the Venom1000TT and have a daily-driven SRT_10 Truck that can net a 10 sec ET or faster no problem, pretty darn crazy for a truck..

But view the site that compares the two; you'll recieve a lot of information from both sides and you can come upon a decision on what you think is better based upon what you think is better or more important.. I view ET's and Speed to wager quite a bit into that.. 🙂

There was a video where they compared the SRT-10 Viper and Ford GT on a track course, well.. The SRT-10 was ahead until the driver took a corner too fast and went overboard.. but between the two they were quite close.. Viper SRT-10 is cheaper, than the Ford GT, and the Ford Lightning is cheaper than the SRT-10 Ram..

Same cubic inch, GT has twice as many cams.

                                          Lightning.
pulley, Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust (IIRC), and time on the dyno (so what, $1200?) and 400rwhp/500rwtq.
Then hook it up to your trailer, load up the race car, head to the track and race them both.
