Forgot to &$#@$% winterize the fiero
-
Well I pulled my 87 Gt Fiero out of storage this past Sunday. Its one I have been building for over 2 years and has a cadilalc V8 in it. Well it actually started and ran very well, which I was happy about, got it in the garage and then the oilpressure gauge went to zero, shut her down and started checking stuff, figured oil pump had problems. First thing that had me concerned is when I drainde the oil, I was a quart and a half high, well ok, I proceeded to pulll the pan and low and behold I find a chunk of ice in the that was blocking the oil sump, and not a small chunk of ice but one the size of a quart oil jug. Well now I was worried, I clean everyhting up and put he oil pan back on, then I checked the coolant, umm.... nothing in their, looking around I found I had 2 hoses that had come off the line, well I put them back on and proceeded to fillthe system. and Geez it wasn't nice, water poured from about 6 differnet places in the system, then it dawned on me, I forgot to put coolant in it last year, I just had pure water in it when winter came, so now I have a car with a new cadillac v8 engine with racks in the block, and everyhting else in the cooling system has holes in it.
So now what do I do, I have over 2K into a car that is now junk...
Oh and to add to the fire, my girlfriend who I am marrying in 6 months was just admitted to Prairie hospital, after having a complete breakdown, so ya my day is just peachy.

so just having water in the coolant system fucked your engine? Why did you just put water in there in the first place.Sucky situation though, I know a guy that was redoing an old plymouth and he overlooked something and fucked it up as well.
Ya, water expands when it freezes:icon_geek:
That sucks, sorry to hear. I could see where one could forget about that. Hope everything works out with your woman too.

Well if one of you want to pay to put a another V8 or L67 in it, i'm all for it, but I just don't have the time or money. I plan on just putting a 4.3 V6 from a 95 camaro in it. Then probally sell it.

that sucks. moving back from AZ to the frozen tundra, that was one of the first things I did was to make sure the coolant mix was good to at least -20 .
arent those caddy motors a dime a dozen? I know one of my freinds bought a running parts car for like, $175.
just get a new engine, done.
at least it was only an 87, and not an 88. that would have really sucked.
EDIT: and arent those camaro V6's are 3.4L, not 4.3?
