If you realm of knowledge doesn't include getting VPN's to work, I don't think you should be challenging Nick's knowledge of networking.

Sorry I'll be quiet, I've never touched a network before. 😉

I don't question your knowledge of networking, but to just flat out say that open source is crap is a load of crap. I would think that you would know more about that.

Getting the VPN to work was no problem once I fixed the client software. Piece of cake. However, I don't think that you should even be sticking your nose into shit you don't understand.

          First off:

I've been using open source products for 10 years. Second, open source operating systems work great in a server environment, this I do use them for.

Third, when high availability (read 99.99% uptime) highly scalable (read everything in a minimum of pairs) and quality are required, open source does not cut it in a lot of ways.

I would not trust my corporate traffic to a network run on anything other than Cisco products, ESPECIALLY my VPNs.

There's a good reason why high business uses cisco not open source....

There is also a thing called a budget. Many small companies cannot afford the Cisco stuff.

You would be surprised how much cisco gear many small companies can afford.
I've done a lot of cool things for a lot of small companies using Cisco equipment.

There is some pretty cool stuff you can do, but we really do not have the funds for it. Hopefully one day we will, but until now I have to make do. 😄
