I've got some strange, cloudy residue on my hood and haven't got a clue where it came from, it's on the surface because I can feel the difference in surface texture from where the residue is and where it isn't. I was wonder what would work best to buff it out or possibly remove the residue. I don't have access to a DA and all I have are a big and small wal-mart special buffers. I was thinking about using wax remover to see if it would take it off then rewaxing it or wet sanding as a last resort, which I really don't want to do. Let me know what you think or know of any good products that might work.

      Well my opinion..

Do not wet sand and try to buff out with a dual action walwart buffer..

If your a DIY'er go buy a Dewalt buffer/ polisher turns up to 3000 RPM;s buy a Med cut pad.

1st Step use 3M high cut compound MEd cut pad 1800 RPMS

2nd Step use Megs Swirl Removal with a polish/ Final pad 1600 RPMS

3nd Step Seal with a sealant 1000 RPM

4th Step Wax on wax off Hand Wax

      OR..
Bring it to SLD and I'll see what I can do..

In my eyes, that's the ONLY option.

I had actually thought about it but I'm 150 miles away and on a tight budget.
PM me with a quote and a time frame that this should take to do. You know, to give me a little more incentive to bring business your way:D The whole car needs a buff but the hood can do for now, it seems to be the most noticeable, plus i'm gonna remove the rest of my vinyl before I decide to buff it.

so you can buff CF just very careful.

Theres a guy on another forum that buffed his CF hood and started to peel and looked 10x worse then it did with the haze look

well i haved worked recon for about 4 1/2 years to long what would be the easiest and the cheapest is just get a fine rag buffing compound and gloss, buff it out by hand if its just residue it wont take that long to remove use the compound first and then the gloss make sure to use to different rags for this or you'll end up with a mess.
